This is how I got on with Vista Thanks to Link... hopefully will help others
If you have any gateway or uo on your computer, uninstall, and delete folder to start fresh...

1.Download UO and download Gateway (old version)
2.here is the link directly to the old version of gateway: http://www.sulexservices.com/uogateway_1.9.1265.exe

3.here is the version of uo:

4.Install UO first...

5.Go to the folder where you installed UO and find the file UO.exe
(If you cannot see the file name go to the top and click organize and folder options, then folder and search options. Then click the view tab and uncheck hide file extensions for known file types. That will open up the files so you can see the .exe file.)      RIGHT click the uo.exe file
and go to properties
now click the compatibility tab
check the mode for windows 98/windows Me
check run as administrator
click ok

6.Now install gateway
Go to the folder where you installed Gateway and find the .exe
Right click the .exe file and go to properties
now click the compatibility tab
check the mode for windows 98/windows Me
check run as administrator
click ok
   
7.Now check while you are in the gateway file to see if there is a uog.rar file,
If you do not have it, you need it. Download it from this site and save to your desktop or somewhere where you know where it is.

8.Ok, copy the file and paste it into the Gateway folder. Do not move it.Close the window. I saved on my desktop.

9.   Download each of these files and save them to ur desktop or somewhere where you can find them easily:

10.Ok go ahead and open Gateway from the symbol on the desktop. You will get and error window, just hit ignore like 5 times (lol) and it should open up.

11.Click on the New Local Server tab there are a bunch of boxes and it starts with server name you are in the right spot.
Fill in them in like so:

Server Name: Slyvan Heart
Description: Manual Connection
Host Address: jhs59.homeip.net
Port: 1980
Make sure remove encryption is showing in the drop down menu and click save

12.It should be on the tab MY Servers
13.Edit the sylvan server by clicking on the file or paper looking thing on the right by the X
14.Go to the very bottom and click "add file"

15.Remember those four files you saved earlier? Click the add file button and add each one of them one at a time (do not add the uog.rar file). When you are done click the save settings button.

16.Start it and try it out...your firewall might pop up but just unblock.

17.And that should be it......

Ok guys I must be stupid I have been trying for three days now........ I have Vista. I went and did everything on the site. I downloaded Gateway, razor, then game. Kept having a patch error and could not open the patch #2 so undid gateway, redownloaded then could not find client. Could not open and re-insert the clients on the word pad. undid game downloaded the 9th anniversary, still can not find the client through gateway have both versions of slyvan on gateway. checked compatibility made gateway to the win 98/me and checked administrator....*cried*...... unloaded gateway, rinse repeated..... kicked new computer, cussed vista, *cried somemore*...... almost giving up,,,,,,,,, went back to smoking.......ate a full can of pringles,,,, finished the term paper.....tried again, no client........

Hi there! I am sorry I have been away so long. I moved into the new home in September. Had all the holidays and such to move in and get situated. When the computer went out. LOL got the new computer and was downloading all the information getting ready to come back to the game when something even more tragic happened.

My brother passed away on January 27th. He was my only brother and best friend in the whole world. It has been one of the hardest things I have been going through ever. We had to move his apartment and arrange all the funeral since at 36 you don't prepare for such happenings. We weren't sure why at the time, wether it was accidental overdose or heart attack.  Then I get a call a few days ago from the investigator telling me he commited suicide and there was no question of accidental overdose. I am all torn up inside.

I miss you guys and want to come back as soon as I can figure out how to get back to you again. My brother was my computer genius when it came to installing things so it might take me some time. I think about you all of the time and know that my heart is always with you.

Howdy all sorry have been away for a little bit again but we had the move going on. It went well I love love love the new house! it is so hard to go to work and leave it lol.
