Questions, Game Problems and Bugs / Staff items

In an effort to keep you all in the loop I would like to know what type of items you would like to see offered from staff at the auctions.  We currently have the Chargers of the Fallen in staff hue and name and we have been doing Crystals forever but I want to know what you all want and I'll see what I can do about getting approval

Events / Foreseeable auction dates.

For ease of convenience all foreseeable auctions will be on the fourth (4th) Saturday of every month at 5PM Central (6EST 4PST) so the next few auctions will be as follows:
January 26 2013
February 23 2013
March 23 2013
April 27 2013.

So there you go. The pattern will continue like that for the foreseeable future so get your items and pets ready for auction!  As always there will be awesome staff items for sale as well.  We will place them in the auction area as we approach the auction date and decide what we actually want to put out for you all.

Events / Event Schedule (revised)

I will be hosting the following events until further notice:

Monday 7PM - Alternating from all NON death related events based upon time, mood, sickness, etc... of me.
Tuesday - None
Wednesday - 5PM Violent Events
Thursday - None
Friday - None
Saturday - None
Sunday - None

Auction will be every 4TH Saturday of the month at 5PM unless I fall ill or my schedule pulls me away (I will try to post all auction date changes in advance)

Other staffers will host different events at their own choosing, some may even post here, but this is my personal schedule for events.

Events / PET WARS

Coming some time after the first of the year I will be restarting Pet Wars.  I will post a schedule for what day of the week and what time it will be held.  With that said I will re-post the rules since there are some alterations and the original list is buried in years of other posts.

1) If you have a pet whose category is not called wait until the end to ask about it. Chances are I will add it for later.
2) At the end of each match you MUST call your pet back.  We understand an attack or two may get through so don't whine about it, we will judge a match to be defaulted if a player fails to call off a pet in suitable fashion.
3) Attack ONLY pets. Do not target players.
4) Staff ruling on each match is FINAL until the end.  If you have a disagreement with our calling wait until after the event and talk to the host quietly for resolution.
5) NO SOCKETED PETS! We will check, always.
6) As always, HAVE FUN! We do these events so you can show off your pets progress and test them against others of their kind.

Hail and well met everyone!

I am going to be working on a schedule for myself to run events through the week.  However the schedule will be small at first since the next few weeks (until after Christmas anyway) are going to be hectic for me.  I will have the schedule posted some time this week as I work it out around my current schedule in life.

Shard Basics / Paging - PLEASE READ

Hello Sylvanites!

I would like to post a few guidelines about paging.  We know you want to get problems fixed and pixelated goodness added to your collection but we must ask that a few things be observed to make the process easier on us.

1) Please page from the location you need help.  I.E. If you need deco page from the Deco Mall, not your house or the Meadow.

2) Please do not move after placing a page.  Sometimes it takes us a little bit to get the time to handle a page.

3) While we are there, we may need to disappear to get items or location info. Please refrain from moving too far or trying to follow unless we ask you to.

4) Do not page for other people.  Unless they are a young child or we had a crash and they died before logging back on they are capable of paging on their own.

5) Please avoid the favored phrase "Is there a GM on?" We are likely not to answer and if we do, we may only do so to tell you to page to find out.

NEW 6) Please let us know what the page is.  You don't need to type out a thesis but a simple "I need items from the Deco Mall" or "I am stuck at <location>" will do.  It helps us to understand what you need and start the process of helping before we get there.  It also gives us time to look up the information for handling the page if it is a problem we are unfamiliar with.

Events / Costume Contest

On Saturday October 27, 2012 I will hold a costume contest at Occlo University.  It will be at 6 pm Central time so start planning now!  I will have prizes for best male costume, best female costume, and best overall costume.  Be inventive! And most importantly, Have fun!

Remember this is a Role Playing shard. In light of that, we request that you name your characters with names that would fit in with our Role Playing roots. There is a great big, huge world of names out there, so I'm sure you can find something nice that works.

Please do NOT name your characters after TV shows, Movie characters, Comic Book characters, Cartoon show characters, or breakfast food.  No L33t names, d00d type names, names referencing drug activities,  or names that would be insulting to other players.   CheVyMaN will quickly have his name changed to Bob.  Superman will rapidly become Bob. IownzJu, will get a free ticket to being Bob.

If we find a name that does not fit with our naming requirements, we will give you the chance to come up with a new name, and will change it for you. We usually contact you when you are in game, if we don't see you on and you log in and find one of your characters named Bob, you will know you need a new name.

I have no problem being "that staffer" who changes names.  Just a friendly reminder about naming.

Events / New Game!

OK I had initially planned for this game to be able to run 100% staff free if needed but the best we could do, for now, is minimal staff involvement.  The game is actually set on 2 18x18 house plots and resembles a board game.  It is a boat race (and if all goes well will be changed every few month to accommodate the seasons and holidays) where players roll dice and move their boats across the board using a deco tool. 

Now you may be asking "Deco tool? Don't we only use that for moving things around our houses?" and I would say Yes, normally it is.  In order to play the game a member of staff has to be informed that a group wishes to play and said staffer will then temporarily add the players to the co-owner list of the houses.  By doing this you can then use the deco tool to move your boat across the board.  This game runs on the HONOR SYSTEM.  If ANY locked down items come up missing the game will be shut down and the player found thieving will likely be banned.

The rules are simple and to save time I have added a book on the board with all the rules.  When you are finished and a staff member did not host the game let that staff member know you are done so they can clear the co-owner list for the next group.

I hope everyone enjoys the game and please give staff a few days to get the hang of it as well to keep everything running smooth.

Roleplay Discussion / Occlo University

I am currently rebuilding the old Role Play university in Occlo.  The school is multi functional for learning the basics of RP, Developing a character, working on story lines for guilds, back story, you name it.  Over the next week or two I will be finishing construction of the two area's into classrooms where not only myself but player volunteers will hold classes on these subjects.  I am also available in game to answer roleplay questions as well as to accept roleplay idea's for story lines.  I'm thinking of setting up a room in Occlo specifically for submissions so keep your eyes open for that.  I will announce a schedule here on forums of when classes will be held and by whom.  So if you are a roleplayer and want to help out let me know either here or in game and I'll be in touch.
