Hullo All,

The most incredible thing happened to me yesterday :-

Whilst travelling along the motorway near Birmingham in the middle lane (traffic either side of us, 70-75 mph) a big bird (we think canadian goose) plummeted from the sky and through the widscreen, hitting me square in the face, bouncing off and into the back seat.

As you can imagine, I'm a little shaken up, and have many cuts and some bruising... but for the scale of the impact and possible consequences, I'm relatively unharmed.

Now, I have to decide what this means in terms of signs and portents as being hit by a 75mpg goose on the equinox is kinda a big one, and I also wanna know which deities to thank and which to shake my fist at - after all, I'm damn lucky to be alive, but also damn unlucky to have been in that place at that time.

For those with a morbid curiosity, and those who are budding ornithologists who might like to verify the species, I've put a flickr album up of the vehicle and bird taken outside the hospital, which was luckily 5 minutes from the point on the motorway we were at.  Here's the url : http://www.flickr.com/photos/67331000@N00/sets/72157600016156618/

Oh good heavens!! You are one lucky man.   Makes you wonder if the Amish horse and buggy might not be such a bad idea.

Never be less than your dreams.

Blame Loki, he's always causing trouble

Wow. I don't know wether to react sorry for you (and your car), or impressed by the fact that a canadian goose (cause I think it is too) who travels south for winter was found on the other side of the ocean, and alone on top of that!

I hope everything is fine, though. I'd hate that canadians be blamed for sending their birds overseas ;D

We didn't have much of a choice really, the bird ended up on the back seat and only fell out when my boss went in the back to retrieve my gym bag for a change of clothes from my rather yucky ones.

Forest Rithik

Bet it was a nice surprise for your boss :-P

I say thank all the deities then shake a fist at all of them, cover your bases man.  Any of them can swing a mischievous side.   ;D

Time is a healer, time is a stealer, time is an angel, time is a devil that burns.

All I can say is OMG and WOW.  I would have to say, seeing the state of your windshield, that you are very lucky indeed.
