Events / Adventuring help?
February 05, 2010, 03:00:08 PM
Hi all,

I've gotten pretty decent at soloing Despise, but I'm getting a bit tired of that. It just so happens that it's not a very difficult dungeon (at least level 2 and 3 if you take your time). I was wondering if anyone would be willing to take me on an adventure somewhere this weekend? I was thinking of being on Saturday around 7:00pm Eastern time.

I'd really like the chance to see how people play on this shard, as I haven't had the opportunity yet. I get the impression that I have LOTS to learn. My skill set is pretty decent as of now for my warrior, so I don't think I'd be too much of a hinderance. If this turned into a group thing, that'd be great too!

110 archery
120 swords
120 anatomy
110 healing
120 bushido
100 tactics
and then the rest is kind of a mess that I'm working on.

General Discussion / Re: Reasons you don't play now?
February 05, 2010, 02:57:01 AM
I'm still very new here and I really like it so far. I'd have to agree with the statement about the "other" classes getting some attention. I posted a suggestion regarding mages here: http://forum.sylvandreams.co.uk/index.php?topic=5124.msg33015#new . It's just  rough outline.

How much does it cost to get a scriptor on average? I bet that a lot of the suggestions here could be implemented relatively easily if we had one.

I haven't yet participated in a shard event, perhaps because I only play on weekends. But that would be so much fun!

And, how do you do these special moves? Is it a random thing? Do I need a book for it? I have 120 swords and 100 (something) tactics, 120 anatomy and I haven't seen anything special yet.

That website is great. Thanks for that!

On Sylvan, can we do those special moves (i.e., Crushing blow, concussion blow etc)?

Questions, Game Problems and Bugs / Lumber-jacking?
January 30, 2010, 12:50:20 AM
I have searched the boards with key words "lumberjacking", and "lumber", and I can't find any info on how much damage LJ grants to swordsmanship weapons. Is it a significant amount of damage if raised up to 100 (I did read that 120 was not useful)?

Thanks again!

Thanks so much you two. I appreciate it.

If stats cap at 450, is it necessary that each stat is 150, or can we have a different set up? That is, say 200 str, 100 dex, and 150 int? Or any variation thereof?

Thanks again for answering my never-ending series of questions.

Hi again,

I'll continue my trend of weekly silly questions. What does parrying do?

Back in the day on OSI (maybe 1998-2000), it raised your AR rating quite significantly, based on your skill. Here, it doesn't do that. I've noticed you can gain it even with a two-handed weapon like a halberd equipped.

On occasion, I see a white flash on my character, I assume that's parrying do something. I just can't tell what it is...

Is there any advantage to using a shield? From what I can tell, everyone seems to use two-handed weapons.

Thanks!

Ah, conspiracy!!  ;D

Ah it's definitely the pet-looting thing! Thanks all for your help :)

Well, maybe not randomly. A lot of the time, after killing MOBs, I turn grey and can't recall. Any idea why? I'm not using AoE spells or anything.

Thanks!

Wish List / Re: Magery idea

I like the discussion going on here. Thank you all for contributing.

Since posting, I have increased by Eval Int and it has increased the amount of dex/str/int I gain with bless, however, it doesn't last very long. I also got a few Faster Cast and Faster Cast Recovery, and it does indeed help, but it's not instant. Still, I feel that the insta cast from a scroll would be awesome.

I have to ask another question though: What is SDI, and what is the "Glass Cannon" route? I haven't heard of either of these. Last time I played UO was just after T2A in 1999 or 2000.

Thanks!
