Chit-chat / it CAN be done!
February 28, 2015, 10:15:50 PM
Not sure where to put this, but I wanted to post proof of something i've worked towards for over 2 years, off-and-on...

After a 27 minute fight (A rumbler respawned on me and stunned me... that slowed me down for a while) and 400+ bandages... Skara Brae's Elemental Prince boss downed solo...no drop though so i'll have to kill him some more. What challenge is next?

....

My pet is not too thrilled after this fight as you can probably guess.  The stats are blacked out so that others will have to figure it out.  I will say this much though:

Magical Attacks to a degree
Auto-cures poisons
Drains Stamina and Magic each hit
I cannot figure out how to dodge his attacks (and yes, i have 120 parry... and since I have a 2h weapon yes i have 120 bushido... and I have 55% dci... it's in Fel, so you can't use Evasion for his magic based attacks)

Good luck to others!

Wish List / Marked Item [moveitems request
December 31, 2013, 06:20:14 PM
This comes from my spellbook crafting.

Thoughts behind:
1) At max crafting, there is a 70% success rate and a 20% exceptional rate.
2) Normal crafts don't get bonuses, only exceptional.
Therefore 3)  Only 20% (in theory) have bonuses.

Currently -moveitems moves exceptional crafts as well as normal crafts.

Is it possible to make "marked" items (exceptional items) not get part of non-marked items?  Or possibly make exceptional spellbooks craft with a different id (spellbooks with bonuses are only artifacts or exceptionally crafted from what I've read/noticed).  I know the jewelry had an auto-sort put in (for which I'm extremely grateful).  Is there a way to do this with spellbooks as well to where I only sift through the bonuses instead of every single non-bonus as well moving one at a time into the recycle bin?

Trading / B> Helm of Insight, Xens
December 29, 2013, 10:58:55 PM
If you've read my post on what I've worked on, you know why I'm looking for this.  I'm moving from my basic items to my Gen 2 items.  Let me know how much for each if you're interested in selling.  It will take me a few days to get the amount you ask probably (work).  I can pay in Gold or Valorite (ingots or ore).  Easiest to send me a pm here on the forums (or reply) rather than in-game.

Edit: I can also possibly trade items for it, though my stash of items is a little low atm.

The Professionals / Magi
December 29, 2013, 09:37:06 PM
I spoke with Cy before bringing this to the community.  It was something I started working on a while back, and went through... 5 incarnations before finding working versions.  I read a while back about "pure" magi not being quite so viable any more.  Now that post was old... very old.  So I worked on seeing if it was viable now.  The main complaint was that Magi had to have Druid builds for mana purposes, and then there was a complaint of damage being too low.  With Cy's permission and wayyyy to many tries, here's a few working "pure" Magi builds.  If you'd like to contribute thoughts, I will gladly accept them as I "am" still tweaking more.

First - Skills w/explanation:

"Generation 1" (Uses a tank friend more)
Magery 120
Eval Int 120
Inscription 120
Necromancy 120
Focus 120
Meditation 120
Spirit Speak 60
Healing 120
Anatomy 120
Chivalry 60
Animal Lore 120

With Skill Cap increase of 1500
Poisoning 120
Chivalry + Spirit Speak 120
60 left over points

Explanation - Magery is for your spell success rate (naturally), and Inscription and Eval Int are for your damage.  Necromancy, Spirit Speak, Focus, and Meditation are for Mana Regeneration.  Focus and Meditation need to be 120 for full MR (don't wear non-medable items), Necromancy gives Lich Form which is +13 MR (out of 18 MR cap from items), and Spirit Speak of at least 50 for Wisp familiar (restores mana based on -karma).  Healing and Anatomy are for auto-bandage so you can focus on damage spells instead of healing spells.  Animal Lore 120 is so that you can see what the weakest element is for spell casting on a target.  I don't remember if Chivalry's Divine Fury worked with -Karma (been a while)... IF it doesn't, this is not a problem.  Summon Familiar with 60 spirit speak option for the Dark Wolf to regain stamina every 2 seconds.  It's not as fast as Divine Fury, but magi don't "need" as much stamina to run away.  Invis yourself....

Poisoning is not always that "useful" against some mobs in the game, but it comes in VERY handy against the mobs poisons does work on.  Up it to have your Nox Mage's poison do a good DoT.

"Generation 2" (More solo, more damage, less ease of regen)

Magery 120
Eval Int 120
Inscription 120
Focus 120
Meditation 120
Healing 120
Anatomy 120
Musicianship 120
Peacemaking/Discord 120
Provocation 120

Skill Cap increase
Discord/Peacemaking 120
Chivalry 60
120 Free points

Explanation - This is more for players who are willing to learn what spells to use by trial+error.  It also requires a bit harder items to find (more on that later).  Swapping out Necromancy/Spirit speak lowers our regen from Lich Form and from losing Dark Wisp summoning.  On the other hand, it gives us +karma for Divine Fury.  Instead of keeping a focus into non-stop damage, we use our barding ability to peace mobs to keep from getting over-run and provoking them onto one another (until the last one... peace...).  It is optional for those who have a friend to help to take Discord instead and get Peace later.  Discord + Curse = nice damage increase.  Slower due to lower MR at first though.

Now into Equipment:

This is where it gets "messy".  You can take the "Generation 1" template and skip the hard part, or take the "Generation 2" template and need an extra stat on EVERY piece of armor.  The nice thing, very little of it has to be "hunted".

Helm, Gorget, Armor, Arms, Hands, Legs: All craftable.  There are 2 requirements to look for, 3 if you take "Generation 2".
1) Lower Regent Cost (total of 100%, 16-17% per item to split evenly)
2) Lower Mana Cost (total of 40%, 6-7% per item to split evenly)
3) (as if that wasn't tough enough to find) MR 2.  Not MR 1, MR 2 (grants 12 MR total out of 18 cap)
Feet: Shoes of the Elements (MR3 total to 15/18)
Cloak: Golden Squirrel Cloak (there are others, but this will make jewelry/sockets easier on you)
Earring, Bracelet, Ring: Int, Dex, FCR, FC, then SDI leftovers.  Dex needs to get between 15 and 20 total.
Weapons: SpellBook (see note) and Shield (crafted/dropped with Spell Channeling and no -FC, or Shield of Invulnerability from Paragon drop)

Explanation - you want AS MUCH MR as possible without using the Spellbook.  MR 15 is almost an extra Mana point every second (considering Focus, Meditation, and 150 Int only give ya 2/second... it's a 50% increase).  As in OSI, Int grants more MR... and it increases damage for spells (OSI is some spells, Cy has posted here it gives a boost to almost all spells).  Stack Dex in your armor to 180 (You have 150 base max, 10 from cloak leaving 20 needed.  The more from your jewelry, the less you socket here).  Once you have 180 Dex for bandages, stack Int.  In your jewelry and Shield, stack SDI.  All-In-All you should reach at least 300 Int using ancient sapphires, this will boost your Mana and your SDI.  You need 2 FC to counter the -2 FC from the spell "protection" (extra FC does not raise it back up).  6 FCR will reduce time between casting to 0.  You don't "have" to have it at 6, but that's a very nice thing to have.  You may use "Helm of Insight" if you are willing to spend either a Mage Armor deed (recommended) or a Mage Armor gem.

SpellBook note - Int 7-8, SDI, and an ultimate slayer.  You can replace SDI with MR if you really, REALLY need to... but I do NOT recommend or condone it at all.  Tome of Lost Knowledge (Major Tokuno arti) is better than crafted as it gets an extra 2 or 3% SDI than max crafted and it has 8 Int, you will just need to ultimate slayer them using Human Souls.

Understand these have been tested and known to work.  It took a lot of trial and error to find these combinations.  There are skill points available for personalization, and they are templates.  Pick and choose which parts you want, but know that these combinations are tested and work.  They just take practice.

Wish List / Rune Request
August 05, 2013, 09:59:08 PM
So, looking at the rune augments... I was really happy to see Gift of Health for my warrior.  I still can't wait to get it RIGHT to try it out.  XD  It got me to thinking though... We have that for fighters, but what about a Gift of Mana for the magi that would trigger on spell cast to give us some mana back?  *kitten eyes*  Or is that the Mind Drain?  Mind Drain sounds more like Mana Vampire then Gift of Health's restoration.  There's not really much of a description as to what the Runes do...

Trading / Rings and Things Flea Market
July 30, 2013, 06:44:13 PM
Rings and Things Flea Market shall be opening 7/30/2013 pending GM assistance (I have just a couple more pieces to get and a vendor tile in market).  Upon entering the vending side, you will find 3 rows of rings/bracelets/earrings (respectively).  As per my normal (as of the jewelry box being created... THANKS AGAIN CY!), these will be for free and rotated out every couple days.  The vendor herself will be selling "things".  "Things" includes Ancient Augments, SOME Legendary Augments (still looking for saph/ruby myself), "of the Elements" set items, various other augments, clothing, crafting materials (mostly ore, some cloth), and anything specially requested that I might obtain.

Floor 1 will hold MY vendor, a kitchen, forge, sewing, and alchemy area (woodshop for fletching will be coming when the yard gets done).

Floor 2 will hold OTHER vendors!  That's right!  Vendor rental contracts may be found in the inn rooms of floor 2!  They'll run 100 gold to rent the room for 1 MONTH real time!  Am I crazy!?  Yes!  But that's beside the point!  I made a little inn on floor 2 for other people to vend without having to buy and decorate their own house.

Floor 3 will be forthcoming, but look forward to it.  It's not going to really have "much", but it'll hopefully look cool!  If anyone has an idea they'd like to see in this "prize floor", let me know.

Lastly... If there is something needed for your craft (loom, anvil, etc), let me know!  I'm not much of a crafter, but I have one that can make any craftable usage item.  I will make what you need to be able to craft provided you have the materials.

Edit: Got GM Assitance!  It's open!

Edit Edit:  Many Ancient Augments are on the vendor, some "of the elements" items, almost all of my legendary augments that I have currently for sale, some Verite Ore, and some Human Ash.  Will continue to stock when I get back home in about another 2 hours.

Events / Jewelry Giveaway
July 17, 2013, 07:31:58 PM
Um... so I have WAYYYY to many pieces of jewelry (over 300 earrings and 300 bracelets alone).  What I'm going to do is on Friday, my library in Haven will have bags in the upper floor (you'll have to find the hidden portal to access it).  Those bags will be on the floor and open to everyone.  Go through, get what you want, and then on Saturday night I'm going to trash whatever is leftover.  Afterwards, I'll delete this post if possible.  XD

General Discussion / Ancient Dragons
July 12, 2013, 02:05:40 PM
I know of a few.  I know there's the Ancient White Wyrm, Ancient Sand Dragon, Ancient Emerald, and Ancient Crimson, and Ancient Hiryu.  Does anyone know of other Ancient Dragons?  (Non-rare please.)  Trying to make a list of them for something.  :)

Questions, Game Problems and Bugs / New issue for me
March 21, 2013, 05:07:55 PM
Downloaded installer.  After 6 tries, finally got a full file and installed.  Downloaded Razor.  Followed instructions.  Now Razor is saying that it can't find a correct "cliloc" file, my client won't connect to Sylvan Dreams (it says Ultima Online up top), and if the UO instead of SD wasn't true enough I can't login for my account (cannot be verified).  Ideas?

General Discussion / Gear or ASH
August 16, 2012, 01:47:18 AM
So yeah... trying to determine Gear or ASH first via atones (and yes, the gear is that hard to get).  My thoughts are that there currently are 3 ASH holders that I know of.  At least two of whom offer services for free IF you have valorite AND socket hammer.  Third one I'm unsure of since I haven't used their service.  So would an ASH wouldn't give any benefit?  Whereas GEAR on the other hand let's my char get out there...ish... XD  Thoughts?  Advice?  Note:  Gear will take 120 VS, ASH is 125.

General Discussion / Doom Damage Question
July 29, 2012, 02:12:58 PM
I got a LOT of good data last night thanks to Tear, Avarice, and Bud.  Thanks you guys!  My next step in data-mining to work my mage up is to find out how she faired against other players average damage.  SO!

Please let me know your average damage per hit against the Dark Father!  Also, if possible, about how often you hit?

If you don't know, PM Tempest/Maelstrom and I'll be happy to take you down there to find out.  :)

Events / Christmas In July!
July 26, 2012, 12:48:43 PM
On July 28th (though not certain the exact time), I will be doing a second round of "Christmas In July".  I'll have 8 bags, this time with 1 Rune, 1 Legendary (at least), 1 Ancient (at least), 1 Tram Stone, some left-over garments (4) from last time, and some jewelry (1 ring, 1 bracelet, 1 earring Minimum).  All I can say for the "time", is that I will make sure people are online (may not be active, but online).  Wish I could give ya an exact time... but hard to say how Saturday will play out.  :)

Note: Current plan is sometime between 8 and 10 am Central Time.

Trading / B> Valorite... a ton of it...
July 23, 2012, 01:41:17 PM
Actually a few tons...  I'm in the market for 21k Valorite Ingots.  Paying 10k per 100 ingots.

There IS an exception though... I have TWO Mythic Tourmaline and ONE Mythic Emerald.  I'm willing to trade EACH off for 6k Val Ingots.

Atm I have enough to pay for 5k ingots, but will have enough for the rest soon enough.  PM me on Tempest if interested in selling.

General Discussion / Leave of Abscence
March 26, 2012, 04:30:20 PM
Yeah.  Gonna be gone at least a month, maybe two.  Graduation is coming up, assignments are going to start piling up (already looked ahead at how many I have), plus I keep mis-reading stuff's due-date... (Like a research paper due 4-1, not 4-29...)  Between school, work, church, and g/f... time is going to get tight.  If I see ya on, YAY!  If not... well... eventually... v.v
