Hey Sylvanians,

Just posting for the benefit of those who care/know me, just in case if I can't catch them online, I am sad to say I will probably have to leave for good. Stuff has come up in RL, and I will no longer have an internet connection here in 2 weeks and will be moving out (and most likely will not have an internet connection there either. NZ internet is expensive for a poor university student, like 60-80 $$$ a month).

Sylvan Heart is a real gem, and I had a great time being here, enjoyed making new friends and meeting people from all across the globe. I wish you all the best of luck in whatever you guys choose to do, and above all make sure you have fun and take it easy! *waves*

I was thinking about this for a while now, and its sometimes hard for new players to get involved in the community (we won't bite! most of the time anyway...) and forums in general. I believe one of the unique things about Sylvan is the close family community we have here, and I was thinking an "introductions" section would be beneficial for new players to start posting stuff about themselves. Also gives us a heads up on who to look out for in-game, if they need any help etc.

Another thing was an Introductions/Profiles thing where you can not only post stuff about yourself in RL but stuff happening in game etc. or just anything you'd like to talk about thats related to you. This way, not only new players but older ones can get involved too and let new players read and learn a little bit about us.

Anyways those are my thoughts, what are yours?

Hmm it seems that when I click to vote on Gamesites 100, I have been getting a page load error for a few days. Could that site be gone for good? If so, that would be lame since we were 2nd on that site

Ok Ive noticed that the Vel crystal gives 5 Lower mana cost (LMC) and the radiant gives 10 LMC. I think the LMC on the radiant should be higher since on most crystals (such as the DCI one - 6DCI vs. 15DCI) the radiant has a little bit more than the regular counter-part as to give players an incentive to use the radiants over the normals.

Well we have been blessed with a new wave of fresh meat... I mean players, and Talia has reminded me that some of them might not be aware of some of the rules on Sylvan - which is understandable hence why I am posting this. Also, some of the older ones might have forgotten so here's something to jog the old memory.

One of the great features is the custom quests and tamables/spawns on Sylvan, however these are not meant to be public knowledge. It's not fair for the people who spend hours and hours figuring out stuff and then a new player finds the druid staff in the first few minutes of their time in Sylvan. There is a great post in the shard basics section outlining this:

And as a last note, it pays to check the Shard Basics area for rules and information and also the Announcements section since theres some useful info such as Donation Thank-you items and Human Ash/Souls.

Just so you know we do have a "player-made" site going (nothing final, still under construction and a fair bit of work to be done), and one of the things I wanted to add to it was a little "promo" video that we could imbed with youtube. Basically we would have the residents of Sylvan (us) just show what Sylvan Heart is all about and show the viewers a little bit of our own little world

So what I was thinking of doing, was just going around and frapsing/camstudioing some of the cool stuff we have such as custom mobs, purty pets etc. etc. and just show the great community we have here.

Soooo, I'm going to need vict... I mean volunteers to help out and be the stars of this video Also this is a chance to show off your shiny pets or the hours spent into decoing etc. so if you're keen on being a part of this, please post here

[How it will work:]

Ok, bascially I want to start some player made pvp events and I want to check how many people would be interested in this - it will be a weekly/bi-weekly thing (more often if everyone wants heh), and I will gladly go through the hassle and work of getting everything together IF there are enough people who will attend (around 6 or more should be enough). Also by doing this we can give the staffers a bit of a break and maybe even join us

How it will work:
I will be making a 4 story 36x18 house with many obstacles and "secret" passages etc. Each team will start at opposite ends. Here and there around the place there will be "power-ups" which could be in the form of e.g. an item with 1 or 2 sockets, more regs, more bands, an extra tamable etc. We can also have things like CTF and domination to add a little bit of spice to the event (Im also hoping guilds will have guildwars here). I will also supply a reward for the winning team (probably not so different from the actual event prizes).

There will be rules such as:
-No sockets other than the ones you can find INSIDE the event house.
-No druid spells
-You will only use the bandages and regs that are supplied (or the ones you find inside the house).
-You may bring your own equipment as long as it has no augments inside them.
-Only one pet per team, nothing higher than a white wyrm. Once it is dead it may not be revived.
-No evasion allowed
-Once you have entered the event, you may not leave until it is over. If you do your team will be forfeit.
-No mounts

How to Win:
1. Kill all the opposing team members.
2. Capture their flag (If we are playing CTF)
3. After around 30-40 mins, if there is a clear winner (say its like 5v1 and the 1 guy is just running around, thats a win for the team with 5 people)
4. If there isn't a clear winner, we will declare a draw.

Myself not being a staffer, I will have to trust the participants in that they will not have secret sockets/carry extra bands/extra regs etc.

Also, the great thing about having this player made is that, we - the players, can decide if something is OP or if some other rules need to be made to balance gameplay. Also, I will be changing around the obstacles and secrets every now and again just to make so people dont start remembering them and start going for those areas all the time heh (if this thing happens at all).

Guildwars:
I see many guilds around Sylvan, but from what I've seen they have near no interaction at all with other guilds. SO what I will try and do is create a points system - e.g. 1 WIN = 5 pts, 1 DRAW = 3 pts, 1 LOSS = 1 pt. At the end of 2-3 months, I will donate around 1 mil or so to the guild with the most points Maybe this can work as an incentive to have some guild competition going around here - cause right now we're just sitting in our houses or out farming dungeons - hopefully this will change (unless you guys don't want it to and actually LIKE farming millions of gold by yourself. If this is true I won't make any more events from now on and shut up and go cry in my corner  ).

So, please put some feedback as to whether or not any of you want this - if not and you have a better idea, please post it and maybe we can make your idea work instead.

Well, our beloved Sylvan Heart has been needing a new site for a long time now, so here goes.

I don't know if anyone knows this, but I have been looking at making a new site for Sylvan for some time now. I know Marlenus has started one, however due to his busy schedule (and dealing with that stupid internet company), he isn't able to finish it. So I decided to take the opportunity of the shard being down to really get cracking on it.

Here's how it looks so far:



Of course it isnt even 5% done yet, however I just wanted to show you guys what its looking like right now.

Ok, basically the point of this post was to get some ideas and feedback from you - the heart of Sylvan. Remember, this isn't MY site OR Acacia's or whatever, it is yours. So say what you don't like about it (I know it isn't much yet, but you can get the general idea heh), or what you do like about it, or what you want to see from it. Staffers you should participate too!

So to start us off I'll jot down what I'm thinking so far:

-I like the green theme of it, since thats what Sylvan is all about.
-However, I do not like the background - I am currently working on this. I spent around 4 hours trying to get a background that was satisfactory, alas no luck there. So for now I just placed a very simple background.
-The banner is ok, but simple. I currently have a friend who is much more skilled than I in photoshop who is taking his time with it. HOWEVER, please, if anyone wants to have a shot at making the banner maybe we can make it into some sort of competition! Mayhap the staffers can design some sort of deco trophy for making the Sylvan Heart website's banner 

My Ideas for the future:

-I would like to place some screenshots of us in Sylvan together including some of our shinies and tamables. This would be placed in the "Community" section.
-I would also like to make a short promo clip of Sylvan Heart at it's best, placed through an embedded youtube video. I would be looking to take clips of us fighting some of the custom Sylvan bosses, using our shiny dragons, some of our events and also show a bit about our races.
-I would also place a "vote for Sylvan" in an easy to see place. Maybe this way we can get our vote count up resulting in more players.

Ok I've gone and made a list of people who would like a "craft and conquer" event - there may be more added to the list later, but I believe it could be a decent turnout (maybe we can start having an event every week/2 weeks with a set time, but we'll leave that to another discussion ^^):

I am also requesting Thane to be the host of this event, since he has tried in the past but no one showed up (hopefully the time works for him too). I believe the people on this list will make it to the event to the best of their abilities, and hopefully we can have a fun filled weekend!
