Stories and legends of magic and spirits abound in the land of Tokuno. There are several that tell the tale of lost travelers being helped by friendly woodland spirits. The spirits would shelter and feed the poor traveler and then help them back to the road. Almost always in these stories the spirit would vanish and nearby would be seen what looked like a smaller Bake Kitsune disappearing into the woods.

It was later discovered that these helping spirits were shy and reclusive but friendly creatures of the woods which came to be called Kitsunes because of their resemblance to the Bake Kitsunes. For a time they began to vanish from the woods perhaps leaving to other areas as more of their home land was overrun with evil creatures. For a long time they have been all but completely extinct in Tokuno. Only recently have a few been seen again. If you are ever lost in the woods of Tokuno, you may find one of these friendly creatures and be invited into its den for some fish and a safe place to rest while on your journey.
