None of Staff here likes to be the Name Police, we try and be generous as far as character naming in our role play supporting realm. Lately we are seeing more and more "unique" names, many of them really verging on not being names. Some of them can be considered quite appropriate in the role play realm, others maybe not. I just want to restate some of the player rules where naming is concerned.
I don't want to spend my time in game listening to people complain to me about this name or that name. Be a bit flexible, but try and be creative. If you have chosen a name that is truly not appropriate, you will be aske to change it (Staff will do this for you) or your character will find its name changed to Bob or Bobby.
The following is taken from the Shard Basic section, Player Rules:
Naming- Pick names for your characters and pets that are appropriate to the medieval world of Ultima. That means no names like "Chevy Man", "YoAzIzMine", "IaMdEAth", "MentosMan", "LaserBlaster", "Chuck Norris", and so on. Avoid names of well known people, television or movie celebrities. Avoid purely descriptive names like "Smithy" or "Mule", etc, etc.
- Elaborate role playing names are not only permitted but encouraged.
- Fantasy and RPG Names Generator is a nice site to get some ideas if you want some name possibilities. There are many other sites that have a utility to generate names as well
- Please try and pick a name that is a name, or can be role play justified.
