Title: Crashing with Ogres?
Post by: Thane ir'Wyndan on February 13, 2009, 03:44:34 AM
Okay I want anyone who crashes around ogres to please post here.  List the name of your character and if you use Vista please.  Trying to see how wide spread this issue is.

Antorrias is an Ogre crasher!  Yes I use Vista and yes I would love to see them all rounded up and tossed out of SH forever and replaced with Trolls!!   `amen

Death to Ogres!  There's nothing good about them.  Just the smell of them makes me faint.

oooo leave my ogre lords alone
its not their fault you chose to have an unstable, untested, cruddy OS!

Your Ogre Lords could be easily replaced with some Roided Trolls with the same loot and great hides to boot.  ;)  As more and more folks buy new puters this problem is going to get worse and worse, not better.  There are only two ways it will improve: a) Axe the Trolls or b) folks with Vista find a new home.  :(  It really sucks to not be able to explore the world without risking losing all your stuff. :'(  As far as my "unstable OS" goes, I do hate Vista and hope to get XP on this machine, but at this time it is not an option.  As of now there are 4 people who have posted on here that can not freely explore the great land that is Sylvan Heart.  While it is only 4 people, considering that the average online is probably about 12-16, that is one third to one quarter of the shard population.  That is not counting those that don't realize that it is indeed Ogres that cause them to crash.  I had no idea until another player mentioned it to me and I realized I had never seen an Ogre on this shard.  I guess that is because whenever one gets near me I crash.

I think a different mob with the same loot type replacing Ogres would be a great improvement to the playability of the shard and what a grand event could be had to find all the locations of these critters!

There's gotta be a good way to fix this... other than tossing out ogres lol I mean... if we start tossing out creatures everytime MS decides to be pain (when aren't they actually), then just think... what happens if horses start crashing people? what happens if people start crashing people... we might have to delete you!  :o lol

BTW, no... I don't crash on them. - just adding my half a cent heh

Our scriptor vanished before this could get looked into.  I don't know how to fix this without people not using Vista.  I know you used to be able to use virtualpc to trick the comp into thinking it was XP.  Not sure if you can still do this though.

Yup, btw, still crashing with Ogres and Vista. Strange.

Didn't make the connection until I saw this post. Was getting what seemed to be very random client crashes which usually ended up with me dead and very hard to get back to corpse. Now it makes sense, the areas I was in at the time had Ogres nearby (though I'd only see them for a second).

Would have to wait for them to leave (without being able to look to see if they'd left before I could get back on).
