Title: MarketVale
Post by: Fangedwolf on June 23, 2006, 10:36:07 PM
This is the thread used for discussion on the newfound city of MarketVale.

http://www.marketintheround.com

(Please note that this link is to the Mytho's of MarketVale, and not the actual Guild website. I'm simply re-creating the town for UO and creating a new set of Mytho's for the Webmaster)

What is MarketVale?

MarketVale is simply a town, first and foremost. It sits upon the northermost road between Yew and Minoc, and NorthEast of the Swamp past Britain. It's a neutral place where characters with different abilities and crafts come to settle and live. It is a non-partisan Town that prefers neutrality to conflict (rarely getting involved with good and evil).

Who can join?

Normally, the only people who are allowed to join are the Citizens of MarketVale. After all, to be a part of the Citizenship you must live within the town itself.

However, lately this rule has been a tad laxed thanks to several members that are living in the town, but not a part of the Guild. Simply moving your homes to within the borders of MarketVale will allow you to be a part of it, despite being a part of different Guilds. As long as you declare that you live within MarketVale and its area will grant you some of the same benefits as if being a member of the Guild.

What are the Member benefits?

There are tons of benefits to being involved within the Citizenship, and some without being a Member. Benefits include;

Being a Member:

[li]Financial Aid for Moving*
[/li]
[li] Financial Aid for Building
[/li]
[li] Financial Aid for Decorating
[/li]
[li] Financial Aid for Yard
[/li]
[li] Discounts at various merchant stores (Including the Pretarian Inn & Tavern)
[/li]
[li] Free inclusion to most events
[/li]
Being a Non-Member:
[li] Financial Aid for Decorating[/li]
[li] Financial Aid for Yards[/li]
[li]Free Inclusion to most events [/li]

What do we need?

We still have a long way to go before the town is complete, and we still need a lot of other people with various specializations to move in.

Things we need:

What about Roleplaying Rules?

Its kind of a given as to what the rules would be governing Roleplaying within the Guild. Like Sylvan Dreams we encourage RP, but do not enforce it. However, we do ask that when in public, to Roleplay their given character. When in a party chat, guild chat, world chat, or just hodge podgin around with friends, OOC chat is fine.

Who to contact?
Contact a member with the <CMV> in their name, or look for the Half Elven bartender Rease Hunter. He's a little hard to understand, but he see's to the everyday affair of the town and keeps pumping in money to keep it growing.

Happy hunting! and hope you decide to move into our lovely neighborhood!

Title: Update of the Town
Post by: Reasey on July 02, 2006, 07:59:07 AM
Allright. Here we go with an announcement on what is happening so far with MarketVale.

*ahem*

Construction of the Roads

Yes, you heard me right. I think with 13 members (minus 3 or 4 for Multiple characters) we qualify as a guild town. As such, I will be planning major road construction to give it more of a developed area feel, and to make it appear as if it really is a town. This will take me some time to finish even getting an idea of where the roads will go, so because of this I am giving everyone currently living within the town 1 week to finish putting on plots and yards for their homes. so as to insure that they are not in the way in the middle of planning.
Title: Further Report
Post by: Reasey on July 10, 2006, 09:11:00 PM
Here is an update on the construction of MarketVale.

Construction of Roads

We have finally gotten in a few of our main roads built in, and they are looking good so far (Thanks Freyr). Costed a pretty penny too. A total of about 650k went into it so far. We even nicknamed a couple of them, and have gotten donations from several other members of the town to further build the roads. Construction on the last bits of pavement start Sunday, July 16th.

Recruitment

MarketVale has officially started a Militiary unit of the town. Headed by Stroem Safai and Tawny Kindrell as Second in Command under Orders of Rease Hunter, it is a second branch of like minded fighters who's main purpose is to protect the Citizens of MarketVale during warfare, and secondary purpose is to aid Allies in time of struggle. Unlike the Citizenship however, there are ranks and formalities in the Militia, and advancement usually are at the head of Rease Hunter after the aspiring warrior attains a certain level of skill and respect (as well as some fun Player ran Quests as a sort of "initiation" into the rank).

So we are asking all warriors with no craft who are looking for a town to live in, and with skill in blade and magic to join up and help protect MarketVale. If not for the reason of having a sense of duty and something worth fighting for, then for the benefits of joining the Militia.

Benefits include:

~Discount on Armour/Weapons/Reagents/Bandages/Food/Drink.
~Free Drink and Food from the Pretarian Tavern
~Free Vendor Space in the Pretarian Merchantile, or Free Vendor Space in the MarketVale Fortress.
~Instant Invites for Hunts and events.
~A chance to live as a hero in times of the Abraxius Wars.

Benefits are endless!

Current Goals

~Finish Construction of the Roads
~Beg Staff to be allowed to name Roads with road signs
~Beg staff for a bunch of other things

Just a lil update... MarketVale now has a small Druid army, which is part of the militia but also has some self rule (feel free to correct me hehe)

We have three rankings so far:
First Order Druid
Second Order Druid
Third Order Druid

Join now! *grins*
Title: Re: MarketVale
Post by: Reasey on July 29, 2006, 06:14:32 AM
Yes. I urge every Warrior and Mage, or any fighter with the abilities to kill within the world to come to the defense of MarketVale and its cause.

Like Ortanius has stated, we have a full fledge Druid section with its own ranks and leaders.

However, despite being under direct order of Rease Hunter, the Militia runs itself under the Order and Organization of Stroem Safai. However, considering that we have not heard from him within the last month and a half, leadership will soon have to fall to Tawny Kindrell to take charge and gather the resources, weapons, armour, and other such things needed to run it if she's to assume the responsiblity of being the one to lead people into a battle and organize the branch of MarketVale.

However, Organization falls within 4 different catagories, depending upon skill and ability.

Fighters: These are the typical warriors of the realm who excell at Melee or Archery above all else, and whos only concern is maximizing their allready potent fighting abilities.

Mages: These are the magic weilders who excell in the weapon of the mind. Be it Magery or Necromancy, or any other form of magic thats used to subdue an opponent.

Paladins: Warriors of virtues. The epitome of Knight and Chivalry who use the Chivalry skill to enchance their abilities.

Druids: Warriors who use Nature as their weapon, and the animals of the world to aid in their cause.

However, keep in mind that most, if not all, of the normal Citizenry of MarketVale has some form of weapon skill at hand, but are not subject to the orders or directions of any leaders within the Militia.

(Plus, the Militia is a fun way to RP an actual army while living and protecting a town)

Ranks coming soon.

Hail all!
Quests have been made for the warriors and mages. Two have started them already so we shall see how they like them. So, if you are mage or warrior in the malitia, please come see me for the quest to move up in the official ranks.

I have also set some quests for tamers and crafters however, I will run these by Rease before any are assigned.
I do have the ranks and will post them on here as soon as the shard comes back up.

We have weapons, armour and other supplies if ye need. Please feel free to ask *smiles* We will be posting times and days when we will have a meeting. It will be very soon since we are growing pretty well *hoooha*! I would also like to see a weekly guild hunt to raise funds for the guild and help our community grow. Should be interesting *grins* so if ye can post what times ye are normally available that would be great! Thank you all for joining us and we hope you are happy with MarketVale *hugs*

Maybe a crafter/markateer class.

QuotePerhaps a 5th class.
Maybe a crafter/markateer class.

Thats why I always said theres a difference between being a Citizen, and bein in the Militia  ;). I created the militia origionally because a player named Edric Carnholm was a fighter, but wanted to live in the town. Origionally MarketVale was going to just be a place for Crafters to live. He never came back after 3 days of playing though.

But then Stroem Safai and Tawny Kindrell came along, and were fighters as well who wanted to live within the town, Roleplaying out as guards while protecting the growing city. I thought it was a good idea, and instead told them they both could create an armed Militia and run it under me, provided it stayed under their responsibility to cloth, feed, supply, and train them.

So now the Fighters have a reason to live in a Market Town, and the Merchant class players have someone to protect the town from danger.

That, and I dun think a Military is for a merchant ;)

Aye, that is why I was suggesting quests for the merchants to become masters of Marketvales, in order that they could supply the malitia, community and give them some fun quests to try and do as well *smiles*

Just letting everyone know i probably will not be on as often anymore, at least for a while. I'm starting this other game that my friend has told me about. Titan Quest. Its basically a reved up Diablo 2 set in Ancient Greece/egypt/china And you can have 2 classes on one char, instead of just one in D2. If anyone else wants to try it, my name on there is Shifty.

Title: An Update in MarketVale!
Post by: Reasey on September 07, 2006, 02:54:25 AM
Well here I go! Yes. Finally an update to everyon (well.... mine at least) favorite Town!

Where are we currently standing in the world of things? Well here, just read the little bulletin of things and you'll see how far we've come lately!

Current Status

Currently we are doing fine as far as our growth and buisnesses increase. We have various merchants come and go, and we even have some of those that stick around to fill up our much needed niches, and the town is growing beyond the area it is in. Pretty soon, we'll have to plan the plots within the city instead of letting people simply place them, as its getting a little cramped lately.

However, we are far from finished! We may have a decent extensive road system in place, but plans are to expand them to include several more homes within the vicinity, and to hopefully include road lamps for at night for those without Night Sight.

Also we are still without a Harbor on the southern tip of the town close to Asimon and Shakka's homes. We're still holding up for someone with a love of ships, water, and a house space to take up the area we would need for a passage out to sea.

As far as everything else is concerned, we are doing fine on what we would need.

Current Events

Be prepared for the end of September! MarketVale is currently in the process of planning an Event at the end of the month that is akin to the typical Harvest Festivals. Currently there are plans for Drinks, Food, Dancing, Music, Angry Animal Wrestling, Mongbat pit battles, and in the hopes of a player ran Bazaar down mainstreet whre every merchant from MarketVale and beyond can show off their wares  to other people and invite a little more player based interaction to one another.

If there is anyone within the Town or outside who would like to donate time, money, food, and their support, please contact Rease Hunter for more information regarding this.

And there we go!

The latest rumors on Rease's whereabouts:
· Checks into Shoplifters Anonymous; last seen stuffing his pants with shampoo bottles at a local 98 cent store. "I am the male Winona Ryder," he announces at his hearing.
· Sucked into a space-time vortex and converted into pure energy like that albino guy in Powder.
· Auctions himself on E-bay. Bitterly retracts his posting when the bidding plateaus at $4.35.
· Wakes up from the Matrix. He is heralded as The One, saves the world, gets with Trinity, settles down in a suburban section of Zion and raises mini-Ones.
· Decides to form the International Coaliton of Indecisive People. Then changes his mind.
· Meets with four other high powered beings and together they form Rease-Tron, the super robot soldier of justice.
· Watches Before Sunrise and Before Sunset back to back. Unable to withstand this brutal onslaught against his manhood, he jumps off a cliff, commits hara-kiri and detonates a pack of C-4 strapped to his body.

Lol just figure I'd do a bit of plagiarism and humour at the same time to let ya'll nkow I'm still alive.

We generally do events. Sadly though,  a lot of us have conflicting hours and such now that we can't run them without some major planning, and even then a lot of those plans never get off the ground *Raises his hand guiltily about the whole Fall Festival idea he was trying to sell*

Allright. Here is an Update on MarketVale so far, and for what we are in need of, what we have gained, what we have lost, and our newfound relationships

Merchants: I am both pleased and saddened to announce that because of several of our Merchants leaving, or not having entered into the game for such a long while, Plots have opened up on the landscape, creating new plots for people to move in.

I am pleased because this gives new members a chance to place within town, but saddened that such good people had to leave.

However, because of some of the posts being emptied, we have not had the opportunity to replace some of them with more stable hands. Here is a current list of all that we still need:

[/u]

If there are anyone out there who has a main, or even a secondary character (Please, no Mules) who is interested in any of the above professions, please send me a PM in here, or PM Rease Hunter in the game.

Militia: Currently, we seem to have lost a couple of our finest Guardsman, meaning now our Militia is down to Vendim Darkstar, Chun, and Tawny Safai. Needless to say, thanks to the retirement of General Stroem Safai, we are left with a wide gap in Soldiers.

However, Vendim Darkstar has risen to the challenge of being our new General of the guards. We all in the Vale hope that his skills and abilities can help organize and develop a fighting force on par with most Militaries.

If anyone reading this is interested in joining and becoming a recruit, PM either Wiseman on the forums, Rease Hunter in the game, or Vendim Darkstar for more information on ranks, advancement, and joining.

Well all... I am happy to say! I am here!

But all in all I have a few ideas and amnow working on earning the gold to put these things together for Marketvale.
One is the first thing I will be working on.
A Bakery will be built just down the street from the Tavern,
future plans, I would like to set up two 14x14's as an Infirmary/ healers. If the city is in need!

oh and hey Reasey! Maybe its time for Street Signs? *snickers*

Please allow my short intrusion, but I think it's somewhat related to the current call for certain crafts:

As per our recent agreements for town cooperation, I shall remind the people of MarketVale that the Sempiternal City's craftsmen are available aswell for them if needed. So if none of your craftsmen is around feel free to give our headcrafter Sam Steelforge or myself (Rhatoqtrax) a shout, PM or whatsoever, and we'll see what we can do for you.

Same goes for our people who'll contact your people as needed.

Story Line Event!
[/i]

A mysterious Ship has landed off the Southern Coast of MarketVale with her crew gone. The only hint left aboard as to the fate of the ship is a journal within the hatch that is marked, scarred, bloodied, torn and abused with its contents dealing within the last living day of her crew.

And to make matters worst, it's haunted by a ghost aboard who attempts to talk to people who stand near it, and is anchored to the land of the dead with no means to be ressurected without figuring out the meaning of his fate.

Its up to the Minds of the Citizenry to figure out this mystery, and put this Ghost to rest.

Can you solve the Mystery?

When: Monday, January 15th 6pm-Whenever am  Eastern Time

Where: Southern shores of MarketVale, or wherever the clues lead you.
