Title: BOD Trading
Post by: kathymarie on July 02, 2007, 08:06:30 PM
As a crafter I run into the problem of  sometimes tearing my hair out trying to find that  certain BOD to fill a large one.  Yes you can use the transmutation boxes to change  them and i use those quite a bit, but I had an idea of  maybe finding other  people that have the same problem and possible setting up trades.  I wanted to make sure that this would not violate any rules or anything.  If we were able to do this we would have to think of an easy way to communicate to others what we needed.  I thought maybe we could use the forums for this.  Maybe  people could post what they needed .  We could even roleplaynit in game and have a "trading party" Of course it would be best if these "parties" would be held in someones home.  Say for example I said I was having a trading party at said time on said date anyone who would like to attend is welcome.   Not only would it help crafters fill orders it would also serve as a social gathering for our characters.
any chance anyone would be intersted in anything like that?

I would absolutely love this idea.  Islandi is always whining and complaining about how if she could just get one more small BOD she could fill a large order and get me my precious clothing bless deeds and what-not.  So you just tell me when and where, and I will make darn sure Islandi is there with bells on.

I know what you mean,  I think i have about 4 large ones sitting there just waiting for just one more small deed to complete the order.  If we can come up with a few more interested  crafters I am sure I can  arrange a party sometime in the near future.

On neocron, there's a website where you could add the rare item parts that you had on your characters, and then display them to others.

What if someone was to make an excell document with all the bods on it - then people could host that somewhere so that people could see what was on offer?

An excel document is certainly something I will have to look into and see what I can do.

As for the trading party,  Could anyone interested give me some dates and times that would be convenient? I would like to pick a time that would be convenient for as many as possible.  Also is the question of how to conduct the trading.  it would be a mess to have everyone talkinga t once....so maybe one person at a time would get up and  announce the  orders they have to trade.  or maybe I  secure  books (labeled with names of course) for people to browse.  Any suggestions on the easiest way to arrange this would be appreciated.

I would suggest that we all put something together (a book maybe) listing all the small BODs that we are looking for.  Then we can all bring our books, and we can set them out and you can lock them down.  Then everyone can peruse the books making note of who needs something that you might have an extra of.  Then we can take turns trying to trade with people who we have BODs for.  There might be an easier way but I'm not sure.  Anyone else with any ideas?

I was thinking about all this and with only 1 person to be able to lock things  and set things up could be a headache because  things could happen to prevent one person from being able to set up and changing  locations due to someone ot being able to be online could be confusing for others that may want to take part.  Now this is  my idea..it may sound silly just for trading and stuff but....i am full of silly ideas.  I have my very first home..the size i am not sure of because it started as a prebuilt..it is small though.  I could make say flint and fae, or really anyone else that would be interested if they didnt want to do it, and make them co-owners of the home.  I think co-owners can do about anything in a home except build right?   The reason I propose this is  because if  more than one person can secure things in a house and move things around it would make it easier to arrange  get togethers if i was not able to be present.  I could  make the house public so anyone could get in there and look around.  maybe even put a public chest for crafting donations?  I could make a bunch of recall runes to the location.  The only downfall is it is a small home but if i could get a few people to agree to be co-owners i could even tear that one  down and place a larger one.   I would have a bank stone, stable stone and I would furnish it  with everything a crafter would need (in the case of visitors that do not have  the items in their own home) I know it sounds like a guild house but thats not what i am proposing.  I am not very good with words and explaining what i am thinking, I hope I have not confused anyone.  And of course this would be a place where trading parties would occur.  let me know what you think.

Ok, I guess the BOD book thing will work for y'all, but I have almost 1000 BODs in 6 books, so I can't  just put a book down and say here are my extras.  But I have a very easy way if someone tells me, hey I need a small dull copper 20 exceptional ringmail gloves, to look it up and see if I have an extra one.  So for me to trade out to people I will actually need to know what they are looking for.  But however you guys set it up I'll play along. hehe

And Kathy, the house idea sounds great.  It seems like for now we don't have a large crowd so the small house will be fine.  If we get a larger crowd over time we can take donations from the attendees to help fund the construction of a large meeting place.

The crafters Trading Post is pretty much set up.  I have a book at the entrance on a small table I would like anyone who comes for the first time to read.  We have a bank stone, stable stone (please do not ride animals inside..its a little cramped), seating for any gatehrings, a spinning wheel, loom, forge, anvil, flour mill, oven, water trough and a toolbox (this is open for anyone to use) does anyone know if  I secure books would anyone be able to write in them?  I guess I could put up a bulletin board but I would like to be able to have books for people to write in also.

I'm interested in this adventure. ;D  I'd like to ask however where this house is?

Post by: kathymarie on July 04, 2007, 05:13:04 AM
The house is in britain, if you happen to see kathy marie in game you can message her and she will bring you a recall rune for its location.   We have run into a little problem with having co-owners.  If someone already has their 5 house slots filled they are not able to be a co-owner to another home.  I already have a solution to this problem though.  those characters that are nice enough to help me with the trading post will still have full access to all the storage in the house due to changes in the security.  The only difference  is without co-owner status they cannot lock items or move them.
I will be placing a bulletin board to help in communication in game and I will be placing  books that  we can use to list bod's we would like to trade and maybe what we have available.  I am sure that it will take time to get this operation to run smoothly but I am postive it can be done.
I am thinking of trying to set up our first "party"  this friday.  does anyone have any ideas on what a good time would be?
Ok i have decided a better idea for people to get the location of the house.  I will be placing a blue backpack in front of the red rosebushes named crafters trading post runes.  this will be open to public and anyone that wants one can get one..but please..take only one.  oops i almost forgot, the house that you can find the runes at would be my shop kathy marie's odds and ends, you can find a teleport pad for it  on the roof of the event center(at least i think that  building is the event center..hehe)

ok I have books set out and bulletin boards up.  there are 3 boards, one for tailoring related things , one for smithing related and one for just general chit chat.  I am hoping these will help with our communication.   Its late and I must sleep now, have a good night (or whatever time it is where you are)

that would be tonight, I know it might be short notice for some but this is kind of the test "party" so I am not even sure how it will turn out.
If anyone needs any books locked down please be there at least a half an hour early to drop your items off.  I should be there at 8 cst so there should be plenty of time to set up.  I have already loscked down a few of my bod books with orders in them.  I will also be filling out a book with orders i need.  blank books for  listing  orders will be provided so if you need one let me know.

I'm interested in this as well, though I am generally at work until 9-9:30 pm pst. I've got roughly 500 of each tailor and smith small BoDs. Alot of multiples as well. I'll see if I can set up a list of what I have for everyone to peruse. And of course make a list of what I am seeking.  :)

It is safe to say that  Times are going to be the biggest factor in all of this.  This is what I am hoping to accomplish, I want to make this a place where people can get together and make trades without  having to be present myself.   I say this because  RL  schedules are sometimes very different from person to person.  Judging from the party we  had Friday I can see this being very possible.  As long as I keep a supply of blank books secured for anyone that needs them its entirely possible for anyone to organize a get together.  What I suggest is , Use the books to List  roughly what you need and for those that  have hundreds open for trade, give a rough outline of what you have in a book also.  The only downside is you would have to  make the lists and update them at the house.  If you decide you want  to make books then give them to me to lock down you would have to get  with me in game to do this.
The ultimate goal is to make this house available for anyone that wants to use it and any suggestions on how to make this better and more accessible for everyone would be appreciated.
The size of the house is a factor that i plan to remedy soon.  This does mean that the location will more than likely change but I am more than happy to provide any recall runes  for anyone that needs them.  A larger  place would mean room for more tables to lock books down and still have crafting implements if anyone had the need for them.  I will start scouting locations soon and I will let everyone know when  the construction will begin.  Let me know if anyone has any suggestions.

For my BOD buddies...I updated my need list because I finally got all my bods gone through. As I get any bods I need I will remove them from the book so I will not be obtaining doubles.

I have  ben sadly slacking lately getting my bod's in order again.  I am still going to scout out a new location for a larger home.  I have also thinking of using  our trading post for  trading of resources also.  Being  crafters our resources can be as valuable as gold in some cases.  Just an idea of course.  Please remember that if anyone wants to organize a trading session feel free to do so.  If i can make the time that someone sets I will be there with bells on but if not I want everyone to feel free to use the crafters trading post  for their trading needs.  If any more bulletin boards or books are needed let me know.  RL is rearing its head at me now so I must go now.   I  will work on getting my orders organized again and hopefully get a start on some new ideas I have as soon as I can.  *hugs to all* you all are great *smiles*

I have finally gotten a new book at the house.  I have went through the books everyone else has put down and while i dont have alot to offer right now i do have a few that was listed.  Islandi, I have one of the orders listed in your book.  Saelorn, I have 1 order listed in your book.  Guin I have 2 orders listed in your book.
If anyone has any suggestion on a time to get together  feel free to post it.  If we cant  come up with a good time for everyone we can always  do some one on one trades.  Feel free to message any of my characters in game if you need anything.

Been a while, so I dont know if this idea is still up to date, or in use, or whatnot...

But it sounds like an excellent idea.

I'm fairly new as a crafter, so I don't have too many bods... but none of my small ones match any of my big ones. but they might match yours :D

So, I'm all for the idea.

yes this is an old post and I havent  been on much lately but I would love to see others keep this idea going so  you might be able to find some of the other crafters to trade with.   I wish you lots of luck with yur bod's and crafting.  it can be very tedious at times but also very rewarding *smiles*
