As you can probably tell, the forums have changed 

Basically the old forums were so outdated that they would not run on the host any longer.

So We did a drastic upgrade, but it seems to have worked - whew

[Romans 3:23]

Richard joined us here on Sylvan in 2016. Some of you may know him as Tra'Wyn Ap Don. He was a faithful player and friend and has helped many and loved trying to improve and promote the shard. He has now moved on to another, far greater adventure in the glories of heaven. I enjoyed many conversations with him about his Ultima adventures and friends. I also enjoyed many discussions about his faith. He was a Christian and always ready to talk to me about it. We even did Bible readings together a number of times with some of his Sylvan friends including his beloved fiancé Liz. We miss him greatly, and our hearts break being here without him. Still, from his testimony, I feel certain I will see him again, and knowing him, I know he wants me to share with you the Gospel, the good news of how we can all see him again!

The only way to heaven is to be perfect, but we must realize we are all sinners and cannot be perfect.

• Romans 3:23
  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

The penalty for sin is death, both physically and ultimately spiritual death which is eternal separation from the love of God in the only place where that is possible: hell. However, we are not there yet, and so we live under the grace, mercy, and love of God with a chance to be saved from hell!

• Romans 6:23
  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
  
  
• Romans 5:8
  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Sin had to have a punishment, and Jesus took the punishment for our sins because He loves us. If we reject His loving sacrifice for us and in pride believe we can do it some other way, then we will earn nothing but death and hell. However, if we trust in what Jesus has done for us, He will save us and keep us saved. He will cover our sins with His perfect righteousness so that when God judges us, He sees our sins as being paid for already and us standing in the perfect righteousness of Jesus.

  21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
  22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
  23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
  
  
• 2 Corinthians 5:21
  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

  9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
  10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Jesus tells us that if we trust Him, we will have everlasting life, never perish, and never be condemned.

• John 3:16
  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

When we trust Jesus we have everlasting life. It's not something we might get or will get in the future. It's something we have, and because it is everlasting, there is no possible way for it to ever end else it would not be everlasting! To make this even clearer Jesus adds that we shall not come into condemnation but have already moved from death to life. Because of this we have hope. We also have hope that if we live to see the second coming that we will see them at that time and join them for a glorious reunion!

• 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
  13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
  14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
  15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
  16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
  17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
  18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

So, why hasn't the Lord come back yet as He promised? He hasn't because He is patient and loving and is giving everyone their opportunity to be saved.

• 2 Peter 3:9
  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

You are living under God's love, grace, and mercy right now with opportunity to be saved. We want you to be saved, and God wants you to be saved. Please be saved so that you can join us again one day for the greatest adventure!

The Sylvan Heartwood Expansion

There are so many quests, creatures, drops, dungeons, and more it may take some time to release the information in more detail! However, here are a number of the highlights

There is a new installer for the new patches

There are new patches!
There are various minor fixes but also new things for you to enjoy!
There are now mouse and rat ears and tail available.
The Remorhaz is now a mountable pet.
Dwarves now have three new animations!
There's a new fire demon!
There are two new goblins!
There is now a small galleon!



There are new areas!
One new area is Heartwood, the area for which this expansion is named. The entrance is just to the north in Yew near a giant white Yew tree.

Another new area is Trammel Dragon Riders Castle! The entrance to that is located inside a cave in the mountain range between Britain and Skara Brae.



There are also new dungeons!
There's an expansion to the Fan Dancer Dojo. Fight your way down to the depths of the dungeon and find the entrance to Fan Dancer Palace and the Assassin's Fortress!



There's a new Jungle dungeon complete with dangerous trap rooms and strong savage guards! The entrance is a cave in a mountain range near some savages who live in a swamp near Destard. Beware, the entrance is Trammel, but the dungeon is in Felucca!



Another group of dungeons involves a new enemy, the gorgons! Be careful, looking at them can turn you to stone! The cave entrance to the main dungeon is in the western mountain range of the Lost Lands.



In connection with the Trammel Dragon Riders there are evil Felucca Dragon Riders! The entrance to their dark castle is the Felucca realm's reflection of the cave where the Trammel entrance is located.



The Technomancer Empire uses crystals for their golems. These special crystals are mined by dwarven slaves from a special crystal mine. This mine is so dark, even magically dark, that night sight does not work, but it's probably for the best! You may want to see the light given off by the crystals to be able to effectively fight the creatures that lurk in this dark mine. To defeat them you fight them within the moving light given off by various crystals. The lights can also resurrect you! The entrance to the Technomancer's city is on the east of Umbra and the entrance to the mines is in the city.



There are new items
There are now working quivers!
There are now two music boxes, normal and elven, which have various new items that go along with them.
There are new craftable items!
Runic whips are now craftable!
Hand blades are now craftable!
The Royal scepter is now craftable!
Gorgon stones are craftable!
The forest bow and sylvan bows are craftable using new special materials gathered from new creatures scattered throughout the swamps of the lands!
Runic dart guns are now craftable!
Special darts are now craftable! These include lesser poison, poison, greater poison, deadly poison, ice, and greater ice darts!



There are so many new places to go and new things to do! Hope you enjoy!

The Vampiress Queen of the undead horde is invading Magincia! The western coast is now covered in deep darkness and overrun with undead! Kill the undead and their evil queen and perhaps gain a powerful trophy!

Beware, the darkness is too thick and too deep for even night sight! Use a torch or take a small, magical guiding light or two to follow you!

Despise in Felucca is now open 

What's so special about Despise in Felucca though? That's where our Sylvan Champ Spawn events take place! In the deepest levels of Despise one can find the place where resides the champions! However, not just anyone can enter to face a champion. One must prove themselves worthy first!

When you enter the dungeon you will find a platform upon which will spawn red skull candles as you clear the dungeon. Clear the entire dungeon fast enough to light all the red candles and a golden skull champ spawn entry token will appear on the platform. Take the token to the depths of Despise, and you will be granted entry into the champion area.

Maybe you've got what it takes to clear the first level of Despise fast enough. If you're really good maybe you can clear the second level fast enough, but do you have what it takes clear all three? Even if you can make it past all three levels of Despise and prove yourself to be a worthy and powerful warrior, can you actually summon and defeat the champion? They do not have o be cleared in any particular order, but they must be cleared fast enough.

Champ spawns activated this way are random and should last for two hours.

It came to my attention that weapons cannot be crafted with the self-repair property. I'm not sure why this was the case, but it is not anymore. Weapons can now be crafted with the self-repair property

There is another new feature on the  homepage of the website. On the left below the navigation, you will find two new links. One will allow you to sign up to receive (or stop receiving) text notifications when anyone logs into the game or when just I log in. You can change your choice or remove your number by simply resubmitting the form with the appropriate check boxes marked.

The other link should allow you to send me a text message. Optionally you can also include your phone number so that I can text back.

 There is a new feature on the  homepage of the website. On the left below the navigation, you will find a list of current and  recently online players. Login now and get your name on the list!

Previously when walking in certain areas of the ground level of the flying island, visibility was poor due to perspective with upper levels being visible at certain points. This made the dungeon somewhat difficult to navigate at points and difficult to even do combat in at those points. This has been corrected now. When at the ground level, upper levels should not be visible and so should not block viewing of the ground level.

For all you people out there who are constantly concerned that you may accidentally forget to pay your vendor and loose everything, here's a solution!

For all you people out there who want to sell more valuable wares on your vendors, but can't afford to do so for very long, here's a solution!

Or lastly, for all you people out there who just want to sell mass hordes of stuff for various prices but have found even that cost a bit more than you can afford, here's a solution!

You can now higher a vendor who works on a commission of 10% of everything sold. Your wares will cost the buyers more so be aware of that, but your vendors are paid according to what they sell rather than what they hold.

They are available for hire from the usual NPC vendors: bankers, inn keepers, and tavern keepers.

Normal vendors are also still available.
