Aww, thanks Cypress,

Apologies to all for the unplanned downtime, unfortunately my hosting got hacked so I wasn't able to do much about it.

I'm really glad that Sylvan continues to exist.

Be amazing to each other!

I need some gamer folks spreading the word about my kickstarter, it's got 12 hours to go, has a crappy video but is an awesome project.

So this is my one spammy plea to a world I used to help run, please tweet, share, like, reddit, post or whatever you can!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/imartyn/multiwolves-not-just-another-werewolf-deck

Thanks all, I'll go hide under my rock again now!

Announcements / Re: Sylvan's New Site Has Moved!

Yeah, there's been various other people involved in buying domain names and all of them have vanished, forgotten passwords etc.

I only ever registered sylvandreams.co.uk at the time that Oak decided to "close" our little world down.  Unfortunately sylvanheart.co.uk and some others are now expired, which means that unscrupulous people buy them up and try to sell them back at an extortionate profit.

We do have sylvan-heart.com as well, I'm sure that the person holding that one will set up a redirect or transfer it to me to make that happen, so we will be able to use that soon as well.  One step at a time though.

Some other ones that are available (and I'd rather people here didn't just go buying them - we've lost good domain names in the past due to the wrong person owning them...) are :

Each of these domains is available for £19.95 for 2 years, and then something similar afterwards for the same period (inflation etc.)

Now, if anyone wants to stump up the cash, I will happily add any or all of these to my domain control panel and ensure that they remain "ours".  (note that since the Oak "episode", the forums have been up almost constantly and I don't let go of domains except to people who have rights to them -- in this case pretty much only Acacia).

Please don't just hit the donate button though - Marlenus does the hosting and donations for that go to him, I can provide my paypal address if people want me to do this though.

Not been in-game for a while, but do remember that crops planted must be on your own land... planting in plantable soil in say Haven does not protect them from orcs, trolls and other nasties coming along and destroying them!

Announcements / Forums have moved!
June 19, 2009, 01:15:07 AM
Due to a reinstall of the web server's OS, the forums were moved off to my personal hosting... and now they've moved back again.

As a side-effect, the address of the forums has changed (all old links still work, don't worry, but may not indefinitely).

Please update your bookmarks, favorites, and any links you have pointing here to http://forum.sylvandreams.co.uk/ from http://www.sylvandreams.co.uk/smf/

Okay, for all of you with a different "theme" set in your forum preferences, I did have to reset this because I am doing some hosting refurbishment at the moment.

I have tried to keep downtime to a minimum as well, but unfortunately these things have to happen when they have to happen.

So, to find your old theme, the settings are Profile->Look and Layout Preferences, and select the theme you like.

Well the current website/forums are on a linux server that uses a mysql database (yep, smf needs one too), so I'll happily host this website (so long as you don't make sound mandatory - it's a rule I have - I won't host sites with mandatory sound/music, the optional is fine :-) ).

Just send me the files and a dump of the database, and where to configure said db, and I'll host it.  I'll even point www.sylvandreams.co.uk at it, as that is in my control, unlike any of the other domains.

Gah, never ever put music on a website by default! Please please please no!

I have to agree that it is a little "busy", and I am slightly concerned about the fact that it's currently a subsite of something else (but I'm not sure what) - is it a self-contained website that can be moved if needs be or is it tied to this "pioneerontheprairie"?

Other than that, it's looking good.

Can someone who is testing the new beta client verify that the hotpatched beta client on vista does the same please?

Kuko - if you want the easy life, try the Beta installer (http://www.sylvandreams.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=4626.0) - it doesn't require gateway, or connectuo or anything!

Glad to see you back.
