General Discussion / Re: Viable Character builds

Im def reading this stuff guys an gals.  So keep feeding me info.  I have a ton to learn.

It seems that chivlry is a must and I have around 100 skill point in focus I guess I can drop since it seems not to help me out as a mage/bard archer.  Bard and archery being the biggest use since magery will need inscription and I know nothing about it at this point.

Now to figure out how to train chivalry

General Discussion / Viable Character builds
October 16, 2012, 02:47:52 PM
Well, Im gonna ask the big question.

What is in "your opinon" a viable character build if you like to do quests and wish to fight higher end mobs?

What start out skills?
What effort gained skills after the start out template?
How high for each skill you think the character should have?
What stats?

What is the best method in your opinon for gaining such skills?

I really want to spend the time to build a great character.  There is nothing worse than seeing someone ingame trying to get to they body and dieing again and again and again yet I cannot help them.  Im tired of doing so myself and Im tired of wanting to help but know that if i offer my corps will lay face down in short order. (usually one hit)

Wish List / Re: Archery
October 16, 2012, 01:58:54 PM
Well, it may be because im new and dont fully understand the atributes on weapons yet but, i have yet to find a bow that will deal more than 12 to 17 points in damage.  Giving that and miss rate even at 120 skill points in archery and tactics the damage delt to a high end mob isnt even noticable.  I have actually stood (ran like crazy) while shooting at some middle of the road mobs for over an hour and had dont almost no damage to them relative to thier total hit points.

This makes it impractible to hunt anything that isnt provokable (includes all high end mobs i have ran across) or tougher than a dragon for instance.  My archery against a dragon is "ok".  My  bard is also a gm mage with gm eval but without inscription aparently he is pretty much worthless other than to cast Energy Vortex.  I wonder if i put inscription on him if his damage against high end mobs would be worth the effort.

Dont get me wrong, a bard can make good money farming dragons in destard.  But the drops from destard are pretty basic based on what I see other players using.  Im sure there is other spots to get better armor for instance or better armor.

Its just that as a 120 bard, mage, archer, anatomy, tactics, evaluate int, meditate, music and hiding you would think that ya could reasonably battle something higher end than destard spawn.  like them crazy trees of doom that i see around or even most of the quests evolve into spawn that is impossible to kill.

YES...I am also a primarily bow user.  And I agree that something along these lines would be nice.

Announcements / Re: Player Seekers

I love the player seekers, it is a very fun event, but i do have one gripe if you dont mind listening to it. I think the difficulty level of the seekers is a fair difficulity level. But one problem i have come to meet is some of these players seekers (Some notable ones i would love to have) are locatied in ilsh. From what i have found is most of these players seekers have become paragon and bearly any one can beat them (Only one person i have heard of so far) and those that can dont want to do it again. So it seems that when these creatures become paragon they are far to difficult for a normal player to beat (Or in my case we even had 2 and a pet go against it and still got whooped). I was wondering if these could be made to were they couldnt go paragon, or every once and a while have the staff go in and remove the paragon versions if they are just sitting around paragon. I know i would appriciate it if they did. Im not sure if im the only one to feel this way, but please speek up if you think im in the wrong for wanting this.

Best Regards,
Lucian Darkfire
Agree, My bard is nearly 120 each of archery, anatomy, magery, eval int, med, but only tacts 90, and a bit more than gm hiding.  Impossible to do the seekers with my skills.  Maybe I should be working on another character that can develope the skills needed to do the higher end mobs?  If so then a few hints would be sweet.

Shard Basics / Re: Paging - PLEASE READ
October 07, 2012, 10:31:16 PM
durring my playing time (5am central time us) there is rarely staff on.  If i page for help  with something staying in one spot is a bit problematic.  I understand I can refrain from paging until later but often i may forget what it was.  However, having said that I should ask if there is any way to determin if staff is on other than paging and waiting to get or not get the "no staff is available" message.

it was a great quest and a lot of fun.  I now look forward to finding some other quests that can be completed solo with a character that  isnt a huge dexer but only a bard/mage with archery.  *hints*

Questions, Game Problems and Bugs / quests
October 03, 2012, 11:48:23 AM
The land is huge and seeking quests can be quite daunting.  Is there an area either here on the forums or ingame where a player can at least find a list of quests and the general difficulty.  My toon isnt even close to having his str and dex  up yet but early mornings is generally when i play and being the pop can be anywhere from 1 (me) to 5 it can be a bit lonesome.  I think if i found some quests that are doable solo at my skill level (bard/mage/archer around 105 skills) Id have a good time.  Help?
