Well guys and gals, Ive looked and cant seem to find info on what the differences are between the different hides, scales and bones for bone armor when crafted.  Also I am nearly ready to make a purchase with VS and would like to make a wise choice since saving for 4 months will be a large investment.

There are valorite runic hammers too Ancient smithy hammers.  What are the differences other than the type of ore each can craft.  I assume that with a higher power hammer a smith can craft higher quality items but what are the actual differences.
Same with the Sewing Kits.  There is various hide types and scale types as well as Bones for making bone armor.

Is there a guide somewhere that provides this info or is it trial and error.  I certainly hope its not trial and error as the investment is Huge for a starter.

Again, Im sorry if im a bit ignorant but I have never in my UO playing time ever played anything other than pre T2a and T2a shards.  Im only used to the basic tinker tools, basic smith hammer and basic sewing kit which adds durrability at various skills and gives some bonus for color or type of resource but nothing near  what is atainable here on Sylvan.

Thanks for all  your time reading this and hopfully giving me a response.  ;)

OK the hides are a lot like the metal ingots, each one is more powerful than the previous (same with the runic kits. The more expensive it is the more powerful it is) Maybell will be able to describe the bonuses and effects of different hides better than me.  As for the difference between a valorite hammer and an ASH, there is no comparing the two.  The Val hammer is a runic and the top one for making metal items.  The ASH adds skill to smithing above the 120 cap and is almost exclusively used for socketing due to the jump.  The Dragon scales give higher resists for an element based upon their color.  I can't remember what color is better for what resist tho as it has been years since I crafted with them.

so,,I have my taylor to around 103 skill now and it seems to have "stopped gaining".  Yes i have plenty of skill points left. Im sure im just not crafting the right thing(s).  Ive read that I should be making Studded gorgets and "bone".  I have a small bit of "bone" but have no clue what to do with it.  I have never used "bone" to craft items.  Can anyone help me out with No.1 where a good place to get bone at is.  No.2 what should i be crafting for taylor gains up to 120 and how should I craft the item(s)

what should i make from bone.  I assume that i need to make bone and studded to get gains but do i make em both at the same time or switch to bone at some point?  Anyone?
