Razor query & user interface problem

OK I've narrowed down that the problem that occurs for me I believe is because of razor. The thing is that I don't know how to fix it. See when some spells are cast I get a message that looks like this: [Language string "(some numbers)" not found]. I think it's because I run the Latest version of Razor (1.0.4.20412) The reason I run this version is because of the Unhandled Exception that occurs when I try to use the Old Version of Razor.
Which is discussed in this thread: http://forum.sylvandreams.co.uk/index.php?topic=4303.0

Before the last time my computer took a dive on me I ran the old version fine. Now since then I wasn't able to get Windows XP installed on it again because of some problems with my disc, so Karina installed Windows XP 64 bit. (which by the way I hate since nothing seems to work with it) I don't know how to get the old Razor to work properly or I would try that so I wouldn't have to deal with the stupid language string messages.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it because it is very annoying.

Now for the interface problem. Since reinstalling everything to play on Sylvan I now have this new box for my character status. I have no clue where it came from or how I got it because I never had it before. I want to retrieve the old character status box but don't know how to or even if I can. The new box doesn't show any of my resists or followers which I would like to see. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like.

The only thing I can suggest is try removing razor, and re-installing the older razor client. I had similiar problems and used the steps posted here http://forum.sylvandreams.co.uk/index.php?topic=4880.0 to get it to work.  I do prefer the newer razor client, but old razor is better then no razor.

As for the character status screen....thats really weird.  The only thing I can think of is re-installing the sylvan custom patches. Which I would do prior to messing with razor. On a side note though your followers status is at the top of your window bar, I know this doesnt fix the problem but hey, at least you got that.

As far as razor and the language thingy... I *think* you can actually change what you say for each spell (somewhere in some razor setting). If that is so, then perhaps you can get rid of or work around  the error. Like if "Rel Por" gives you the error because it's a "magic language," then type in "Rel Por" as the replacement text... the replacement text should be in your language (human language) (no matter what is said: magic, Elvish, Fae, Orc, Rat, or w/e), and maybe that will give you the normal spell words but get rid of the language error.

As far as the stat box goes, I'm not all sure... seems like a patch thing, but you might search through the options and see what you might find. I can't remember for sure.

This *could* all be simple patch problems too I guess, but again, I can't remember for sure.

(edit: I also tend to agree there with Moxy. Try the dot net stuff if you can, and I'd say manually DL the Sylvan patches and add them by hand using the method here: http://www.sylvandreams.co.uk/index.php?p=2 )

I'm happy to announce that I fixed both problems without having to do much work. I had tried many of the suggestions before even making my initial post. Like reinstalling both old razor and new only not to fix anything. I also reinstalled all my patches over again and went into my uog folder and removed a bunch of old or unused client folders to try and fix the interface problem.

What helped was the step by step instructions on the Sylvan Heart how to connect link. I didn't have to reinstall or even start from scratch. It all turned out to be a compatability issue. I knew when I set up everything after my last computer crash I had to set up compatabilities, but I set them for the wrong one. I set them to be compatable to windows xp and not windows 98/me.

Thank you both for your help, now I will have to make sure write it down for future info in case my computer happens to give me problems again.

Ok, I jumped the gun a bit, it didn't work like I thought it was. Here I thought everything was fixed, but then after my post I noticed that razor didn't even start up with the client. So, now I know razor is to blame for both issues. Since the last post I did a few things and was actually able to fix the spell casting problem but I still have the interface problem. I installed the .Net 1.1 Redistributable Package from the Microsoft website and installed the old version of razor. I set compatability to windows xp, the post says to set it to win xp service pack 2, but in the properties it doesn't list anything about service pack 2. I logged in and cast a spell and my language string issue is gone, but the character status isn't fixed.

Karina is going to take a look at it when she gets home, hopefully she can fix the problem.

I think the compatability should be set to windows 98/ME... and what is the razor error now? If it does not come up at all.. no errors or nothing... then u might not have it "turned on" somewhere. Check the Shard settings and the garteway settings both. If it comes up with an exception or soemthing.. or some error... that sounds like the old framework problem... or a setting in the compatibility mode maybe...

OK, Now it's all fixed. I decided to set up a profile for one of Karina's characters tonight and found the problem that I was having with the character status right away. It had something to do with my profile I had for razor. I don't know what caused it, but I guess it was corrupt or something so I just deleted it and restarted everything and made a new profile, but not after writing down all my special info hehe. It fixed my character status instantly. So now everything works, casting and the status are fine. I'm happy now.  :D

good to see you got it all worked out. nothing more frustrating then not being able to get razor to work properly....this game kinda sucks without razor heh.
