Sockets and Augmentations 

Socket Hammer
Add sockets to unsocketed weapons, armor, jewelry and even pets! Find magical gems, runes and other items to add to the sockets. You must use Identify skill to add the gems and runes once you have a socket. You also find pre-socketed weapons and armor at times on various monsters.

The enhancement gems and runes are also dropped from higher level monsters. Each enhancement (called augmentations) adds additional bonuses and abilities to weapons and armor.

When using the Socket Hammer to add sockets, you need 500 valorite ingots and high blacksmithy skill. You often do not succeed and sometimes destroy the item you are trying to add the socket to. But, additional enhancements can make weapons and armor quite powerful so it is often worthwhile to use up a few valorite ingots and risk losing an item, the choice is yours. Blacksmithy skill is important when attempting to place sockets. Also, the more sockets you add to an item, the greater chance you will fail. There is a slight chance of destroying the item as well.


The Glimmering Stone augmentations will raise skills as will the Woods, but not over the maximum skill cap.

You may socket weapons, armor, jewelry or pets. You cannot add augmentations to clothing, hats or footwear. This includes kasas! You can add sockets to those clothing items but cannot add augmentations to them.

Hammer of Recovery  This will recover augmentations from your socketed items for use in another item. However, only gems, skulls and crystals can be recovered.
