Hey all havn't been playing much due to RL issues, but want to really start playing here again like I did back in '05. Anyways is a miner and blacksmith good to have here? Can you get items from filling bods? Anyways see ya soon, and hope to hear some replies.

the market for mining and smithing has contracted significantly since i joined this shard. you can get nice hammers and such from filling bods.  which you can make good items from but they are hard to fill.  if you dont mind the time consuming monotonous mining then you might do ok if you only ever mine valorite. the market for the other ores is next to non existent. but val is the rarest of them all and take alot of time to gather significant amounts. blacksmithing is worht while due to socketing, and if you have high level runic hammers like val and vertite, nothing more.  gone are the days  when  a new player pays you to make them a suit of armour heck i remember when non new players would contract you out for a few suits of armour and weapons. there is better equipment that can be found through killing baddies from around the land.

Thanks for the input, thats a shame cause I was looking forward to using these skills a bit.

Most "end-game" gear is crafted gear, crafted with high level runic made items. There are only a few artifacts that end-game'ers incorporate into their suites, those are typically from the following Weapons (Zyk Claw, Titans Hammer..etc) Pirate Jewelry and the occasional armour piece such as Heart of the Lion, Rune Beetle Carapace and Stormgrip. Those who go all out on artifacts in the end are typically loosing out as some of the most focused on artifacts are either of limited use or in the case of Kasa of the Raij unsockatable.

I never stopped ordering/ arranging/ buying stuff from other crafters. I've had DoE, FW and Jager make entire suites for me even though I am more then capable of end-game work (Like Waste's crossbow and Forest's Spear). I know most of the people who have helped me out with gear orders have made a tidy profit from it. It is all about knowing what the majority are wanting, how to get it and the costs of working towards it.

The biggest factor at play is the number of high end crafters on shard, since it lowers the chance that each one will get business and the fact that many others want to be self sufficient in the long run.

Artifacts, ToT and other drops have existed before, during and "after" the bulk orders people used to ask for. Many new players get helped with replacement gear for free if they have a bad encounter and have done since SH was SD so that can also dent some dedicated crafters pockets aswell.

As it stands the best thing currently that is the easiest way for a Crafter to earn good rep and coin is socketing and Val Selling (Unless desperate, always sell Val on auction since it usually causes bidding wars). There are future things likely coming our way, there always is, one of those is a long overdue and in my opinion much need economy revamp
