about blacksmithing

im at 120smithing and i have the stuff that gives me about +30 to blacksmithing does that have any effect? does it actually still give me better resaults like if i was holding the Antient smithing hammer that does +60?

Only the various ASH's will help with your actual smithing skill but it will be easier to craft things and socket with an ash in place.
