Deva Raven

Deva stretched, slowly bending this way and then that way. Every muscle feels stiff to her and she has convinced herself that skin can hurt too without being cut! Deva's soft and pliant body was not accustomed to physical labor of this sort. Leisurely walks through the forest which even hunger could not hasten was the best of her acquaintance... until now. The farmstead still bore the look of too many years but clean as it could be! with every fallen log loped back into place. The cleaning had been the worse of it. Small Deva clung fearfully to the wall as she scaled the fences within the barn to free the rafters of all that had acquired there. The trough had want of scrubbing after Orc urine had soiled the water for the horses. If anything happened to one of her master's creatures... he would be sure to dismiss her! It was with great kindness and reluctance that she was accepted. The repairs would not have been troublesome for any experienced farmhand as Lord Ardin Redhawk kept well his stables, but for Diva who had never held a hammer in her hands there was many a sore finger sucked while tears coursed silently down her cheeks. 'This is my chance' she repeated time and again to herself, 'I will only have one.' Lord Redhawk's absence convinced the young girl it had been done deliberately as a test of her dedication with no ready guidance before the true lessons began! Though the truth be told, this was all in her mind. The house might have fallen in around her so deep was her sleep as any who exerts themselves to excess daily and she would not have known. Surely then, had Lord Redhawk entered the home, even with her sleeping on the plush couch of the terrace adjoined to the master bedroom she would never be the wiser. Still, this thought gave her determination when all else failed. Deva would not disappoint her Lord and teacher... deliberately that is.

Deva gave one last good attempt at a complete stretch before turning away from the stable. With the sun setting, it was time for her nightly bath in the local stream. She would not entertain the thought of so much as setting foot in her Lord's home as filthy as the work left her. Deva had not chained herself to the house however, far be it! She had seen adventure for the first time! She met all manner of person, each as interesting as the last... save the Orc. That her Lord looked upon him fondly was a credit to his noble and honorable heart. Curiosity gave way to revulsion and no more could she look upon the Orc until finally he ambled off. A lovely woman who was not really a woman but a man once upon a time and the man that was her brother but not so as they were married were kind and patient with the wide-eyed Deva. She had tried to help the one called 'Festus' as she grappled with the crippling fear that at times left her mute... and a mute mage is of use to no one. Still this kind lady/man plied her with compliments most wonderful when the third joined their gathering.

Something exciting was happening to Deva since leaving the wood. She was meeting new and interesting people. She had managed to enter the service of a good and wise Lord. She had visited lands she never dreamed existed and stood in battle with those who were surely legends of the land! But above all... the power within her awakened. Tasks she had not thought herself capable of were easily met under the gentle instruction of Festus. She could now travel the world by use of her own magic! Deva too could vanish in the blink of an eye as she had seen so many do before! Deva hoped as she waded into the cold waters that night that the green fire would not follow her... that something good could come of her life despite the monster she knew herself to be.

Festus

And as she bathed she was watched.  For ney harm shall befall the Lady Diva under his watch.  As the pale skin winked below the ripples he turned to the forest with a sharp eye.

Ardin

::walking back from the temple he looks up as he climbs the steps to his stables. Looking around he notices some differences, things have been cleaned, small repairs here and there, and the animals of course have fresh feed and water::  Hmm, seems she is doing a fine job already...  ::his mind wanders a bit as he remembers a time long ago when a young woman had come to him, asking to become his apprentice. He smiles as he thinks more about it then shakes his head and walks into his office::

::sitting at his desk he goes over the list of newly captured rare creatures, checking for any that are already being sought after by those who frequently stop by to see what he has to offer. His gaze moves around the room, noticing the differences inside as well::   I will say she does keep a clean house. Now to see how she takes to working with animals... A small start before I take her out to try her hand with the more aggressive creatures.

::replacing the list he then heads upstairs, yawning he heads to his room::

Festus

It is well known that Redhawk is an honorable man however, Festus shall hide behind the forest and even behind other faces and keep a sharp eye out that the Lady Deva stays safe as possible in this, a dangerous time.
