Hello all,

I started a miner/tinker/Blacksmith, i am trying to find spot to mine ore but all the veins i find seem to have little ressource in them, usualy around 4-5 shot and the vein is empty. Also i almost have to go about 8 square further to find another vein. Is that on purpose ? Does it get better as you get higher in skill or having a better shovel ? And where are the best spot to mine (inside a cave) ?

Someone probably beat you to the Ore/ Vein timewise, People seem to be keeping Ingot supplies hush hush these days rather then sticking them on vendors or their porches. But yhea someone probably beat you to it and it was still replenishing its quantities.

Garg picks can help you though, just make sure you kill or get someone to kill any guardians you disturb wether its with the garg pick or not :-)

I mine alot in Delucia (or is it ?) Anyway, the wolf town. I am alone there most of the time. I though the problem was that the veins script generate only small ones, and with alot of spacing between each veins. Samething happened when i went in the little mine just north of Minoc.

I will try to find another spot. For Guardians, a simple !Guard does the trick !

To my knowledge it is quite correct that you get about 5-10 successful digs per spot, probably depending on the area (e.g. at the edge of a cave it seems to be less due to less mountain graphics around). The actual amount of ore per dig depends on your skill, and the type depends on a chance calculation depending on the ore type and your skill, making it e.g. about 50% chance to get some valorite at 120 mining. Mining seems to clean out not only the actual digging spot but also the surrounding area (maybe 8 tiles as you found), which's "harvesting charges"  seem to affect  the number of successful digs.

This seems pretty much OSI style and e.g. is totally different from old Sphere servers where each tile had its own large ore amount.

I aint a miner myself but this is what I have been told by our head craftsman, and it matches what I found on other servers. Hope it helps.

Thanx for the info, it match what i have found so far and confirm what i supposed. Just wanted to be sure that there was not a different set of rules for ressources here like fel/tram on OSI. As for the dynamics of minning skill, i know about the colours etc...

basically all your observations are correct, some spots will give you 4 ore some will yield 20 and some will give more.  and you do have to move a bunch of spaces over, 8 sounds about right but im pretty sure that varies as well.  to thwart any guardians that popped out i trained my smith in fighting skills. now i wish guardians would pop out more often because they are an easy kill and give val :)

Aye. i love those guardian too, But something weird about them, The minor guardians takes almost 10 ebolts to kill them and The earth guardians, they only take 4 to go down :) Well i prefer it that way, the loot is better on them :)

Perhaps they just have different magic resistances? Try another spell

I used to use the poison spell and my warhorse, plus some blade spirits.  Worked for me everytime :)

no the junior ones do take more. i can kill the normal ones in 2 hits. the junior ones take 5 or 6
