I have to say true.  To say we are the only life in the universe is pretty narrow-minded.  In fact, I would have to say that there must be other sentient life out there somewhere.  Again, to think that we are the only ones just seems a bit close-minded to me.

Half-True. I disagree that not believing in other life-forms is absurd. If we look at the extremely precise condition the earth has to support life, it is possible to believe tha no other planet has those properties, and thus no other planet can support life as we know it. Half-true cause I believe myself in other life forms, although none intelligent.

The person below me thinks an intelligent life form from outer space has already visited us, even if it was not known by any or few.

I'm not sure whether or not to say true or false here since I think it's quite possible it could have happened. I'm not sure whether or not I believe it actually has happened though. There are so many signs out there that say it has and yet there are so many doubts in each one of them that could make them untrue.

I do however believe there is life in the universe outside our planet. What we may constitute as life here on this planet, that is what makes up our genetics and makes us living beings as well as anything else on our planet, may not follow the same rules in another part of the universe. Who are we to make up the rules on what gives life to something. There may as well be things out there that would totally blow our socks off and make us wonder how can something like that even be alive.

Yup.

Earth doesn't have conditions for universal life, just the conditions for our life. Even on earth there's massive variety in how things live. Viruses are effectively a sack of DNA and enzymes. Bacteria breathe ammonia or nitrogen. Then compare humans, leeches, giraffes and fish to look for similarities. Within one planet we have hundreds of different environments that each give rise to an incredible variety of life (there are over 6 billion species of known bacteria, over 300,000 species of beetles, plus however many have gone extinct).

There's no way you can say that life could only exist in a world like ours.

While I'm aware there are many new animals discovered all the time I think a great 6 foot ape would be quite easy to find, especially since those tapes give a pretty clear indication of where to look for one. Like the loch ness monster.
