Doesnt recognise the client.

Ok,  i have the problem where UOG wont recognise the client, but ive tried everything posted here and still nothing.
Reinstalled it, changed files, replaced files etc.

any help would be appreciated.

Dont use gateway then. Use direct join with razor

Yeah an error also comes up when i try to use Razor, says something about missing files although ive redownloaded and reinstalled the client, and put the patch files in the directory.

Doing what you describe is fine but the problem here is with UOGateway, not with his installation of UO.

Also, if you do what Saxos describes, you will have a hard time playing on other shards and on OSI if you still do.

It really depends what windows your running, I noticed that if you are using Vista, UO GOLD works best its what I use, and I use Razor as well, but I see uogateway will recognize uogold as SE

Ok,  ive had one last stab at reinstalling everything and readding the shard to the list, still nothing, so i think ill try another client type.
Would it be possible for a link to UOGold?

I am also having an issue.  I am currently running windows XP, but when I use UOG, it downloads the patches, but then gives me an unexpected error in the client.
The client I am running is the UOML.exe, not patched to anything so it is currently at 4.0.11c.  If I use ConnectUO, it tells me that there is a problem downloading the patchlist and to play at my own risk.  I click OK, then the client comes up as SE, but I am allowed to play, I see a lot of tiles that are "No Use" tiles.
This is currently the only shard I play on, so at one point I just installed all the patches into the client directory, and then tried running it, and I got the same unexpected error that happens when I run UOG, and then I had to reinstall the client.

So here is my question,  Should the ML client be updated to a certain point first before using UOG, or is there a different client that I should download.  Just curious, because I would like to be playing and seeing everything.

No, you don't have to update your client. You're having a different problem.

I would like to say that I am using the 1.9.1266 beta version of UOG, I don't know if that would make a difference, but it was the only one I could find to DL.

If anyone has a link to UO Gold and a different, older version of UOG, I would be greatly appreciated.

If Windows 98 compatibility mode doesn't work, try different compatibility modes. We use an older version of the OSI client.exe file here which is required to see all of our custom art. Some people have problems like you described because of this so switching to UOgold or ML or SE could be the cause but not very likely. Plus, they're all the same in the end, really.

P.S. It's still worth a shot if nothing else has worked, though.

For some reason maybe im not that smart, but I noticed when you install UO Gold, UOG recognizes the client as SE....it seems to be the only one I can get to work with vista......and lets not talk about vista :/

That's because UO Gold is not an expansion.

It was released in 2005, not too long after Samurai Empire was released, as a ploy to get money out of folks. It was a special release sold by Walmart.
