Morwen Aldarion

From birth, Morwen was a perceptive child.  Even as young as age three, she recognized her parents disappointment that she was not a boy.  Nonetheless, she pursued the activities of other young girls.  Her favorite, of course, was befriending any animal which gave her attention (and they all did).

As she grew, her parents kept encouraging her to learn the dark arts associated with necromancy.  She may well have done so, that is, until they destroyed one of her wild playmates whilst demonstrating the use of their magical abilities.  From then on, Morwen refused to listen to any of their teachings regarding their magic.  She wept many weeks over her lost puppy she had so fondly named Lefty having named him thus because of the way he had favored his left paw.  Her parents seeing this as a sign of weakness in the girl presumed it would be best to discontinue teaching her anything.  They also concluded their best and only hope was to abandon the young girl and try again for a boy child -- abandoning her,  for fear that her atttitude would weaken any other child she was around.

Morwen awoke in the cool, dark morning feeling a chill deep to her bones.  As she roused from her bed, she noticed the fireplace no longer had any wood burning and a quickly scribbled note left on her dresser.  It read:
                    Morwen,
You should quit pretending and grow up. Maybe if we don't baby you anymore, you will turn out decent.
                         Goodbye forever.
As she read these words, she did not know what to think, being only eight years of age.  Though she didn't understand exactly what they had meant, she knew they would not be coming back.   Most children would have bawled over being left, her only tears came as a result of the fact that she then knew their hearts had no room to love her.  And they flowed quite freely down her chilled cheeks in the cold, winter night.

It had been almost ten years since her parents left.  She still lived in the same little house which still looked miserable upon the landscape, but she had surrounded it with blue flowers and tried painting the walls to make it look less dreary.  Nothing she tried ever made it feel more like home to her though.  Then again, how could it ever be???  Morwen decided to leave her thoughts behind her and head out with her favorite horse, Bella, to hunt some dinner.

As Morwen realized she had become lost, she suddenly felt a surge of magical energy nearby.  As she stood there thinking curiously about how such a power could be, she became aware of the prescence getting closer.   Before she could think to respond though, everything around her went black.
