General Discussion / Staying in Touch
Last post by Reasey - December 27, 2020, 10:29:36 AM
Hey everyone!

Been a long long time. Like, really long lol.

Figured I'd reach out and connect with all of you as best I can. The best way I know how is through Discord since it's predominately where I hang out and it's easier than ever to talk to people since we can create our own communities and all. In fact, it's how I currently stay connected to several different communities I'm a part of.

If you have Discord, be sure to hit me up and talk with me! Can find me pretty active during the day, and (sadly often) late at night.

Discord: Reasey#6749

I also have a Twitter you can follow as well, lol. I check it every day and get notified if I have a message there so if you want to stay connected through that, I'm always there.

Twitter: https://twitter.com/ReaseStoneheart

Hope to see some of you guys soon =). I should be getting on the game every so often to do some grinding, exploring, and other stuff.

The Sylvan Heartwood Expansion
There are so many quests, creatures, drops, dungeons, and more it may take some time to release the information in more detail! However, here are a number of the highlights :)

There is a new installer for the new patches
The Sylvan Installer: http://www.sylvandreams.co.uk/downloads/SH_installer.exe
Alternate link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/is1ilin6kkrk5cj/SH_installer.exe

There are new patches!
There are various minor fixes but also new things for you to enjoy!
There are now mouse and rat ears and tail available.
The Remorhaz is now a mountable pet.
Dwarves now have three new animations!
There's a new fire demon!
There are two new goblins!
There is now a small galleon!

There are new areas!
One new area is Heartwood, the area for which this expansion is named. The entrance is just to the north in Yew near a giant white Yew tree.

Another new area is Trammel Dragon Riders Castle! The entrance to that is located inside a cave in the mountain range between Britain and Skara Brae.

There are also new dungeons!
There's an expansion to the Fan Dancer Dojo. Fight your way down to the depths of the dungeon and find the entrance to Fan Dancer Palace and the Assassin's Fortress!

There's a new Jungle dungeon complete with dangerous trap rooms and strong savage guards! The entrance is a cave in a mountain range near some savages who live in a swamp near Destard. Beware, the entrance is Trammel, but the dungeon is in Felucca!

Another group of dungeons involves a new enemy, the gorgons! Be careful, looking at them can turn you to stone! The cave entrance to the main dungeon is in the western mountain range of the Lost Lands.

In connection with the Trammel Dragon Riders there are evil Felucca Dragon Riders! The entrance to their dark castle is the Felucca realm's reflection of the cave where the Trammel entrance is located.

The Technomancer Empire uses crystals for their golems. These special crystals are mined by dwarven slaves from a special crystal mine. This mine is so dark, even magically dark, that night sight does not work, but it's probably for the best! You may want to see the light given off by the crystals to be able to effectively fight the creatures that lurk in this dark mine. To defeat them you fight them within the moving light given off by various crystals. The lights can also resurrect you! The entrance to the Technomancer's city is on the east of Umbra and the entrance to the mines is in the city.

There are new items
There are now working quivers!
There are now two music boxes, normal and elven, which have various new items that go along with them.
There are new craftable items!
Runic whips are now craftable!
Hand blades are now craftable!
The Royal scepter is now craftable!
Gorgon stones are craftable!
The forest bow and sylvan bows are craftable using new special materials gathered from new creatures scattered throughout the swamps of the lands!
Runic dart guns are now craftable!
Special darts are now craftable! These include lesser poison, poison, greater poison, deadly poison, ice, and greater ice darts!

There are so many new places to go and new things to do! Hope you enjoy!

The Professionals / Re: Ore: The storied question
Last post by Cypress - December 03, 2020, 02:54:04 AM
Mining and smithing are different but very connected as miners dig up the ore that smiths use  ;). As durtger tips, you can use a special prospecting tool to tell what kinds of ore are in an area. I believe the tool also upgrades the ore type by one level  8). As Dolos pointed out, it may be a very good idea to have a little magery allowing you to mark runes to the locations of various rare ores you find.

Yes as you level mining you will have a better chance of mining the more advanced ores. The advanced ores are spot specific tho, so being a mage and marking runes will be an asset for you. Increasing the skill also increases your chance of smelting ingots, ie; don't smelt your valorite until your skill is maxed so you don't waste the rare ore. Mining and smithing are the same skill as far as I remember.

Good luck and welcome

The Professionals / Ore: The storied question
Last post by Isabeth - November 28, 2020, 09:22:45 PM
Greets,

I did attempt to research this but the "search" function lied to me or was being mean, so thus the questions.
As a noob miner, I seem to be expecting to see different ore varieties as I level up. Is this true by your experience?
Also, is there an advantage at going 120 in mining versus 100?
Last, what about smithing at 120. What are the advantages?

Many thanks.

Roleplay Discussion / Strange Earth

Part 1

Mira hammered away at the floor of the mine just over in Minoc. She'd been at it for hours, taking a
break now and then when her body demanded it. It was the dreams, you see. The dreams she had of
a powerful wizard trapped under the earth for no-telling how long. She, the wizard, had come every
night to lay out the plan of how to free her. First, find the box. It was a fine box, a box made of ebon
wood, a box with fine carvings on the lid, the body, the sides. "Let me out," she said, "and I shall reward
you."

It was the only way, Mira knew, the only way to rid herself of the tall, dark woman who stood at the edge
of her bed, moon-pale glistening like lilies. "Let me out, and I shall reward you," she said, said now with a
voice that took no "yes, buts," or "I would but" from anyone, so Mira kept digging.

Mira found a bit of contentment in the search. She hit a patch of earth she took for iron, and so took the dig
in a easterly direction. "Free me and you shall be rewarded," the dark lady promised. But oh, Mira thought,
what reward would that be? Best she could dream of was a book on magic, that way she could summon up
food when she was starving...right about now.

...to be continued.
